The WACs biggest message regarding diversity and collaboration is that they are important! We need to be taking these seriously! Understanding, accommodating, and encouraging the individuality of students helps us achieve better outcomes and creates a more enriching environment for all. The best way to celebrate the uniqueness of all of our students is to collaborate with their families and communities.

  • First, props to the good people who run the Washington State Legislature’s website. I did not expect such a user friendly, intuitive interface for policy documents like this. This makes finding and using the WACs very easy. I can see how the WACs are relevant in much of what happens where I work. From record keeping to facility needs to staff training, it seems clear that the WACs are meant to be a guiding force in child care, with the aim of optimizing the health, safety, and well-being of children. I’m sure many of our philosophies of early childhood education may differ, but I’m glad to have these policies as a bedrock to ensure that early learning programs and the folks involved with them are operating responsibly.
