  • when a teacher is able to document the observations it equips them to be able to make an objective assessment of how development is progressing with the child. Its a great way to be able to share and talk with parents later on as well as make any changes to how the teacher engages with the child and what lessons or progress to work on. Using the scafolding approach since all children learn and develop differently the teacher can make any necessary adaptations to learnings.

I believe that there needs to be a balance of screen time. I would limit short time to an educational tool for music and maybe stories but then follow it up with. For the youngest little ones, I would not allow screen time at all and let their creativity and curiosity for learning through books, art, and arts and crafts instead.

How do you think early learning providers can create a “serve and return” environment in their classrooms?I would say that engaging with the child and responding to what they say, with both verbal and non verbal communication. As well to let them know is to ask a question about what they have just said to allow them to form a response.

I would first ask parent if there’s something in the schedule that has changed for them to be late. Then ask if we need to modify our pick up time to accommodate the lateness. Then explain that continual lateness impact scheduling for staff, child and also center hours. I like to first lead with asking what’s going one first before setting any boundaries to help this be a open way to dialogue.
