I was surprised by the amount of detail in the WACs. They seem very through and focused on the health and safety of the children in early learning programs. It was nice to read through them and I look forward to learning more as we go along.

</font></font>

Yes, I actually can. I did not realize how important all of this is even as a mother and a HCA. This information has helped and i wont be forgetting anything about the WACs.

It’s so important to read, understand and analyze all of WAC’s sections. Each one has a detailed summary and explanation of the field required in an early learning program, also it surprised me that thing you don’t think at all have to be aware. Knowing each section will make you be the differentiator of tomorrow.

Of course! It gave me a better scenario to do an organized program with child/families and also design creative environments that are safe for learning.

It seems to me that the WACs are just clarifying guidelines for childcare centers and workers. I can definitely see how my day to day working with children will be influenced by having knowledge and access to these guidelines. I think a lot of these things come somewhat intuitively to me but it’s nice to have a clear place to look when I have questions about how things should be done properly.

I discovered that the WACs are almost essential outlines for the childcare environment. I was, however, surprised by how thorough and well thought out/well described all of them were. I can definitely see myself influencing my day to day with children, due to the nature of the guideline and how easy it would be to follow day by day, making the day more thorough

I discovered that some of the students might need accommodations and/or more help than others. I didn’t find any of the WAC standards surprising, I think everything that I read is definitely important to know and some of it did look familiar, some of it was common sense, but I did learn about accommodations and that is very important information. I can see how some of the WACs will influence my day-to-day practice in caring for children because I read about accommodations and it really stood out to me and I can write a summarized plan for the children who need accommodations in my lesson planning notes.

Hello, I have a question regarding the “Going on a WAC Hunt” activity. The section on the worksheet that says “<b style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>What does it say? (Each WAC has a question—copy<b style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”> <b style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>that <b style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>question)” is confusing me because I cannot find any questions. I see a lot of information yes, but not questions to copy/paste. Could you please guide me through this section? Thank you!

I didn’t find any of the WACs surprising, more educational then anything else. It was good to find out the requirements of being a teacher. Definitely gonna be checking over my classroom to make sure I have all my documents and all my toys are safe for the kids.

On top of this discussion board’s specific question, I would also like to take the time to make sure I am answering the two other questions given to me on the same page I found the link to this board on.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I discovered just how detailed and thorough each one was! It is clear that each code was written to be as precise and specific as possible. They cover a far wider range of topics, issues, and points of discussion than I would have ever initially thought of.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I may be misunderstanding it, but I was surprised that WAC 110-300-0425 said that those of us with a non-renewed, non-expiring license do not have the right to attest or make an appeal for it in court! I was also surprised to see we need approval of the department to hold dual licenses with similar clearances.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? I can absolutely see these WACs influencing my day-to-day practice! Having read through all of the listed WACs and seeing just how thorough and detailed they were in their descriptions and rulings on so many topics and issues related to this line of work really solidified in me how important and serious this line of work is! Working with children of any age is incredible fun, but as a teacher’s assistant, I still need to know and be very aware that this is still my job–my profession–and I need to take it seriously! I have to do my part to make sure that our children are safe, healthy, learning, and thriving. It’s not all just fun, there’s so much supervision, problem mitigation, and in-depth individual analysis (in terms of monitoring one’s social, physical, mental, and educational developments) to be doing. We as teachers are running a business as well, it just doesn’t take the same form as the kind of business we think of when we hear the term.

It helps with the pathway to teaching children what they need to learn and to keep everything legal

I really was not surprised by any of the WACs. They seemed very intuitive, and just clarified the consequences of things I already know to not do. I think it’s great to have these rules put into place, but none were surprising to me.

I discovered that there are many procedures we do in the way that we do them everyday because of WACs. Such as how we clean and how much bleach we use whether we are cleaning bathroom areas or kitchen areas. I wasn’t very surprised by any of the WACs, but I was surprised that some “rules” have to be listed at all. I can definitely see how these will impact my day-to-day practice in caring for children because they already do.

I learned a lot of useful things about WACs. It highlights the importance of early child care. Also, it provides many resources for educators, which teachers can use. The WACs include various recommendations on health and safety, which is very important and useful information for a teacher.
