I discovered that there are a lot of requirements with in depth information. These requirements all need to be followed. The WACs are there to help programs be compliant with our state standards. These WACs will guide me when doing my day-to-day responsibilities while caring for children.

    1. I discovered that WACs has many subcategories of quality standards that I wouldn’t usually think about on a day-to-day basis. It is definitely something that should be reviewed regularly.

    2. I wasn’t necessarily surprised, but a little overwhelmed. There are so many sections that can be a lot to handle at first glance. Once I read through them though, I felt much better about how I’ve been applying them, or how I will apply them to my work days.

    3. The WACs can significantly influence my day-to-day because it includes topics on things such as safety, with very detailed concepts.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I discovered that the WACs are very easy to access and they are labeled in a way that makes it easy to find what you are looking for. Additionally, I discovered that the WACs have a definition section.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I was surprised by WAC 110-300-0270 because I did not know that overnight care was a thing. It’s not something that I have done in any past early childcare jobs.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes I can. The WACs are the rules we are early childcare providers are responsible for. The WACs were created in order to help us and keep not only the children safe, but all employees as well.

    1. I discovered how thorough this document is, and how it might have just about every answer to a technical question I may have.

    2. I was surprised by how many definitions there were, and also that attendance records must be kept for 5 years. Some of the definitions were oddly specific and seemed to refer more to curriculum to me.

    3. I can see how the WACs will constantly have me reflecting upon them and analyzing my interactions with children and my coworkers on a daily basis–making me think and stay committed to following them and realizing if I am not and trying to redirect and fix that.

    1) The more I read through the textbook, I realized that regulations like this is necessary for running smooth and safe environment for kiddos.

    2) I was surprised to find that it was described in so much detail. It is helpful.

    3) Yes, I think it would be helpful in our day-to-day practice. The fact that it is divided into 7 major sections, I find that it would be easy to find answers when necessary.

    1. I discovered that the WACs are much more extensive than I had imagined. I have never read any legal documents or penal codes before, so it was interesting to see how for every WAC, there was an exception and extensive information written about it.

    2. I was surprised to find out that the qualifications for different ECE positions were set by the state, and not the individual center, and it was interesting to read through what is required of every position.

    3. I can see how these WACs will influence how I practice childcare on a day-to-day basis. Everything applies to the job that I do, even down to what a classroom has to have in it. I imagine these codes were written with the best interest of the children in a care setting in mind, and I want to try to follow them as closely as possible.

There’s a lot of rules that you have to follow just be be in compliance with this states regulations, there was also way more than I expected I never knew childcare had this many rules and regulations that everyone has to follow

    Honestly none really surprised me

I can see how WAC influence me and my class, it helps you put down the stepping stone to the foundation of your teaching and helps you stay in line and know what to do on a daily basis.

    1. I realized how the website is used, and I gained helpful information on certain rules that I didn’t know before, including what needs to be displayed at the site

    2. I was surprised by WAC 110-300-04600 outlining the records that we must keep track of, and for how long we hold onto them for. Upon thinking more, it makes sense that we would need these in the case that any problems arise

    3. Yes, I’ve already learned information from them, such as the previously mentioned one about keeping records. Without the WACs, small mistakes like getting rid of records could result in trouble. I’m glad that I can now navigate the website, so I can find information if needed

My first response was posted above. Secondly, I’d like to add that I didn’t realize they were state by state set guidelines.<div>I can 100% see how the wok will influence day today guidelines in your center as there are things that need to be done for safety and security for the children and your center and if people aren’t aware or up-to-date on those guidelines it can negatively impact how the center is ran

    1. I discovered that there are a lot more requirements and licensings than I previously knew about

    2. I was surprised that it is required of centers to provide materials for students that don’t have them. It is nice to know that all early learners will be starting on an even playing field.

    3. The WACs lay out a ton of my day to day activities and things that I will need to do not only to stay within the law while teaching but also to further benefit my students and their education

1.) I discovered that the WACs are much more detailed than I had thought them to be. It seems very well thought out to cover any circumstance with clear and concise information.

2.) Actually, I was surprised at how in-depth the WACs are. I knew that there were guidelines for operating a child care in WA state, but when I think of guidelines I think of vague ideas that are open to interpretation. These guidelines are very detailed, concise, and clear.

3.) I can, absolutely, see how knowing these will make me a better educator and caregiver for young children. They take the guesswork out of finding the best care practices.
