there were a lot of requirements to remember and it was surprising to know that there can be a lot of kids to one teacher. but the WAC’s are a great guideline as to what is okay in a daycare.

    1. what did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? while reading the WACs chapters I learned that was more requirements to be followed in order to be able to work in the teaching field in Washington State.

    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? pets and animals- 110-300-0225. I’m a little surprised but defiantly more surprised about this one than other topics in the WACs hunt. When I think of early education I think of babies younger than 6 year olds and the thought of an animal or pet in a classroom doesn’t come to thought. I would understand it more for elementary schools. But early education?! that’s really interesting. I would say I do agree with the rules and regulations because anything is possible with having animals around and the care is in our hands for both the animals and the children. As someone for who has love for animals I would take this rule into consideration.

    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? why or why not? what did discover about the WACs while completing the activity? were you surprised by any of the WACs? I can really see how all these WACs influence the day-to-day practice and structure really is gonna depend of the type of day you’re having and these are the steps in place for you to follow and stay in accordance with to keep everyone safe, healthy, and learning in a positive environment.

    1. There are so many things to read! More than I thought possible.

    2. I was surprised to learn someone as young as 14 years old with a High School Degree or being currently enrolled in such a program.

    3. Somewhat. The things that I read were either extremely specific and something I don’t see as applying to me at all or unless there’s an extreme circumstance, or it seemed like basic knowledge.

What i discovered about the WACs in this activity is that most information as it pertains to early learning can be found in the WACS with a limited amount of searching?

I was not surprised by any of the WACs other than the amount of them.

Yes i feel they will influence the way I care for children because of my understanding of the state laws and regulations.

    1. I discovered that the WACs are very thorough, which is a good thing because this is an important topic relating to child health and safety.

    2. I was surprised by WAC 110-300-0005 because it defines words that you’d think would be commonly known but in hindsight, it is good to explain everything as thoroughly as possible so that everyone understands.

    3. Yes I can. I see that there will be lots of specific that I will have to get used to at first but I know the WACs are there for a reason and they will soon become second nature.

    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?
    3. There are so many WACs out there, many of them are surprising, mostly regarding business that I wouldn’t have thought about had I not come across it. For example if a facility will be closed for 30 days or more they must give written notice.

    4. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?
    5. Yes and no. It is so important to become aware to protect yourself, the facility, and the most importantly the kiddos. However some of the rules and regulations regarding the operation of the facility is obscure and definitely apart of my day to day. However the rules and regulations that directly affect how I interact with the students will influence me.

In the WACs, I found WAC 110-300-0105, stressing the need for a safe and nurturing environment for kids. This rule shows the state’s commitment to their well-being. Following this guideline will shape how I approach daily activities, ensuring the best possible learning environment for the kids in our care.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?
    2. It is very thorough, and I need never wonder what is required of me again. I have this handy code.

    3. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?
    4. Everything made logical sense, I guess my surprise was at that people had spent so much time to create such a large detailed document.

    5. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?
    6. Yeah, definitely. I think I have lacked confidence in my intuition, and I might give that more of a chance, also I’m going to wander around my school looking for all the “postings” that are required.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? WACS are in place to give us clear standards and guidelines to ensure the safety and appropriate care of children. Some of the WACs are harder to interpret than others. It is important to work with a licensure to ensure clarity and correct understanding of the more complex WACs.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? WAC 110-300-0335 (1)
Physical restraint must only be used if a child’s
safety or the safety of others is threatened …WAC 110-300-0335 (1)
Physical restraint must only be used if a child’s safety or the safety of others is threatened. I was not surprised as research supports that corporal punishment can have long standing impacts on children. It is though appropriate to protect the children in your care and restrain a child if in an unsafe situation.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?
Were you surprised by any of the WACs?
Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? WACs provide structure for day-to-day operations and guidelines for those delivering care. They are a great resource and ensure consistency amongst teachers, directors and other admin and take away the ability for individual teachers to manage their classroom based on their ideas or beliefs. I was only surprised that lead teachers and assistant teachers will also need to complete required ECE credits by 2026.

The code seems to lay out the ways in which a facility should operate in a way that provides individuals with a structure and a system to operate in.
