    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?
    2. I was surprised by how detailed the WACs are. Every WACs section is detailed to a degree of understanding why you have to do these things to work with children.

    3. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?
    4. I was surprised by WACs dealing with Physical Restraints as usually if someone puts a hand on a child even if it was to restrain them, it usually would be a lawsuit but the WAC 110-300-0335 states that it can only be done if the child’s safety and others is threatened and it also states that once you’ve physically restraint a child, you must report it which honestly is a good way to not get into a lawsuit.

    5. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?
    6. Yes, the WACs are a helpful tool to make sure that not only the children, but staff and myself are safe and well taken care of so I think it’ll be influencing my practice in caring for children.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I discovered that they are very thorough, but for good reason. I wasn’t expecting there to be so many WACs.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I was surprised that there was a long postings section. I never realized that thing like a “no smoking” sign needs to be posted.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes I should and do see how the WACs will influence my day to day of caring for children. It will make me more purposeful with completing required trainings as well.

That WAC is very organized and extensive. It covers a lot of information I never would have known about. I cannot wait to utilize this.

    <strong style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>Were you surprised by any of the WACs?</div><div>

The most surprising thing I came across was the animal part. It does make sense though.

I think this will be a major help to me in the future. If I get stuck on something or if I have a concern, I can look back to the WAC to guide me.

I was surprised to find out the ratio of children to teachers when I did this activity because I didn’t know that you could have so many children with a small amount of teachers. Finding the answers on this assignment were a bit overwhelming, but it taught me a lot that I did not know.

<strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color);”>1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity

many of the WAC laws in section 110-300 are about what information is needed before starting a childcare position and what information you need to collect as you go through out your work, both continuing your childcare education and keeping paperwork up to date on the kids you’re caring for.

<strong style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? <div>

Not in the sense that I thought any of the laws were out of place. of course, reading new text I found new things that I either had not thought of or had not expected to read. but none of the laws seam contradictory and most of the laws look thought out and built upon one another.

<strong style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? </div><div>

Yes. I think these laws offer a good mind set to start from when interacting with kids and their parents. It’s also helps all staff start off on the same foot. you better understand why you peers do what they do can better measure what you’re doing and have set guidelines both to continue your teacher education and conduct yourself in a classroom.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? – I discovered that the WACs are very thorough in describing pretty much any situation that could occur in a childhood education setting and how to handle said situations.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? – I was kind of surprised by how many different records and inspections there are to be kept. And how long some records should be kept for.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? – I can definitely see how the WACs can be helpful and why they are so in depth. There’s an answer for practically any situation you could think of in childhood education. And I enjoy how much information they give so you can fully understand.

I wasn’t surprised by the requirements I am grateful that everything is spelled out for us and I know exactly what is needed for me to continue working as an Assistant Teacher. I discovered the WACs need us to be exceptional documenters and researchers when it comes to the WAC requirements. I discovered that I will have to do annual in person trainings to maintain my license and that the government has authority to revoke my license and that cannot be challenged.

while completing this activity, I discovered that the Washington Administrative Code touches base on a lot of different topics and stayed very specific which, to me, means that it is to be taken seriously. The thing that surprised me while reading through, is that technically, someone could become a center Director at only 18 years old. Although I’m aware of the unlikelyness of it, considering you have to have all of the training done and so on, I didnt know that the age to start was so young.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?
    2. The WAC’s are intact for not only the children but are also helpful to the ECE providers.

    3. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?
    4. I was surprised at how in depth the WAC’s were, with thought to every possible scenario leaving no questions or room to misinterpret.

<strong style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?

<strong style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>Yes, I see how the WACs will influence my day to day practice in making sure that there are no mistakes because if I am unaware of the WAC’s there is room for mistake and accident within the ECE center.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? There are so many regulations!
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? Yes, 110-300-0005. The WASs are so granular that they need a list of term definitions as a separate WAC!
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Absolutely. There is a rule and regulation for every scenario.

    1. I discovered that the Wac’s are far more intricate and detailed than one would think, the document is around 448 pages.

    2. One of the most surprising things to me was that hand dries for after washing hands can be used only if there are precautions in place for burns. This is surprising to me because I didn’t even think about the possibility that hand dries could cause burns.

    3. I can see how WAC’s will effect my everyday life as a childcare worker. Following the rules and regulations is not only the law but vital to ensuring the safety and well-being of myself and the kids I look after.

    1. I discovered that each guideline was very specific and comprehensive with multiple pieces to each WAC.

    2. I was surprised at WAC 110-300-0155. I did not know that all screen time must be interactive with staff and alternative activities must be offered.

    3. The WACs will definitely influence my day-to-day practice in caring for children because I will make sure to follow each guideline. In order to maintain the safest, most productive childcare environment possible, each WAC will need to be followed.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?
    2. There are way more than I expected, but I was super passionate about reading them,

    3. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?
    4. They all made sense to me because of the nature of a childcare profession, but they were more in-depth than I particularly expected, but because of that I feel more prepared now and have a deeper understanding of my role.

    5. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?
    6. I can see why they are important and how they are important to my day-to-day caring for children because they all have a place in what I will be doing, I forsee WAC 110-300-0085 being one of the more important ones for me outside of the care, and safety WACs.

1; I learned that there are a lot of requirements that need to be followed in order to be compliant with the standards for Washington state. There were definitely more than I thought there would be too!

2; I don’t think I was surprised by many of the WACs but as previously stated I was impressed by the depth and range of coming at each focus point.

3;Yes, because sometimes, there may be situations that I would be confused on how to response to the certain condition, which can easily happen when my own experience through upbringing and knowledge contradicts. WACs will be helpful to guide us through that condition to support children in most applicable way.

    1) They seemed to be articulated very precisely.

    2) The one about pets threw me off because it doesn’t include anything about service animals. Also about locks seems like kids could escape and get ran over

    3) they change how we see things and create standards that make a better environment
