1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? It was much more in-depth than I would have imagined. It seems to be an incredibly helpful and insightful resource.
2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? No. It is imperative to have standards and regulations in place to ensure the safety of children and their learning environments.
3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes, by holding me accountable by following the regulations and standards, while maintaining a positive and safe environment that will support and nurture the growing child.

1. I discovered that everything has a purpose and a place. as well as being the amount of requirements to be a early learning educator

2. I was surprised that the depth and detail of all of the WACS is over stimulating.

3. I definitely see how the WACS affect my personal day to day and my work life. Especially in school keeping the children safe and keeping myself safe.

1. What did I discover during the WAC activity… While doing the activity, I realized that the WACs are much more specific and expansive than what I have previously been exposed to in licensing ELL programs in other states.
2. Did any of the WACs surprise me… I was a little surprised to see some program elements dictated in WAC standards vs. left to the personal evaluation and criteria of the licensor in the licensee/licensor relationship. Things like reporting requirements for children expelled from the program surprised me. Seems extremely detailed!
3. Do I think the WACs will influence our day-to-day routines… Yes, in some ways, the depth and breadth are helpful to make sure many essential components of our program are being incorporated on a daily basis. The expansiveness also feels a little overwhelming!

1. I discovered the WACs were very in-depth and thorough to many different possibilities.

2. One WAC that surprised me mentioned animals. I was surprised because I never actually thought of the idea of having an animal in a childcare facility.

3. The WACs influence many day to day procedures and operations. The WACs are the guideline on how an well established facility should be running and how the employees should act in certain situations.

2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I was surprised by WAC 110-300-0100, specifically the Educational Qualifications Chart.
3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? I can see how the WAC will influence my day-to-day practice in caring for children because it has so many important such information such as family engagement and partnerships, creating and ensuring a safe environment, and interactions and cirriculum.

I knew that working with children involved a lot of rules and regulations. i just never realized how many. this is my first experience having to learn all of this and it is overwhelming but i am also glad that they pretty much have an outline for everything.

I discovered that there are a lot of “little” things in each, it’s important to make sure you read through the details.

I was surprised about that physical straint wac. It’s important to make sure the safety of a child and other children so it makes sense but it was some thing I didn’t know.

WACs will influence my day today because there are guidelines we need to follow to ensure the safety of the children and ourselves.

1. One thing I discovered about the WACs in how specific each one is. I am pretty familiar with the WACs but thought that was interesting.

2. I was not necessarily surprised by any of them, but it was interesting reading through some of them like the garden ones and others that I was not as familiar with.

3.I see how they influence our day-to-day practices as they are things, we need to do every day to keep our children safe.

I find that handbook pretty useful because you can clearly see a lot of requirements that maybe you didn’t know before completing this course.

I was surprised that early learning centers are not allowed to have any pes n the classrooms which makes me feel sad because i know that a lot of children would like to have them at least for 5 minutes in the class

1. Descubrí la forma en la que el Estado de Washington establece normas muy específicas para promover el aprendizaje, la salud y la seguridad de los niños.

I did not know that you could have pets in the classroom, and how many kids to one teacher, seems like a lot to me.

1. I learned that there are many helpful and useful tips to the WAC guidelines. They are useful because it keeps regulations structured. This assignment was overwhelming for me as well and I couldn’t really navigate through to get all of the codes needed.
