There are so many songs out there that teach body parts and also include moments. Include these type of songs into the daily routine in the classroom. Also when outside encourage and each the children group games that they all can play together (freeze tag, duck duck goose, etc) or participate in parachute games. Let the children pick which game is played each day.

Pinterest is my best friend when it comes to finding new and appropriate activities in the classroom. Another one is observing the activities and games the kids come up on their own and develop it into something all the kids can participate in.

Creating a developmentally appropriate, fun, and physically active classroom involves incorporating diverse and engaging activities that cater to various learning styles and developmental stages. Integrate age-appropriate games, movement breaks, and hands-on activities that stimulate both gross and fine motor skills. Foster a positive and inclusive environment where children can explore and learn through play. Incorporate music, dance, and interactive lessons to make learning enjoyable.

I think that celebrating and acknowledging the children’s good behavior and accomplishments plays a very big role in making the classroom fun, welcoming, and positive.

<div>Planning large motor activities to do as a group can help everyone get excited about getting healthy. You can turn some activities into a competition to get everyone excited. Dance parties and obstacle courses can make it fun for everyone.</div>

We can play a variety of different games such as Simon says and include things where children will move thier body. We could also have songs that tell children to move a certain way, such as stomp, clap, or jump. We can turn clean-up time into a game and have children help out, this is an excellent way to get them moving!

Do you have any tips for creating a developmentally appropriate, fun, and physically active classroom?

I would start off the day by having a fun way to enter the room, having our own songs and fun brain breaks for the kids, certain words and movements to get their attention and keep them engaged

I’ve been thinking over more ways to add a spark. What if I would introduce themed learning corners? It could create little immersive spaces that change regularly, focusing on different topics that grab the kids’ attention.

Also, how about a “Movement Monday” or “Fitness Friday” routine? Incorporating short, fun exercises or dance breaks into our schedule to keep the little ones active and energized throughout the week.

we sing and dance and give each child a change to show their dance moves, this is their favorite, we also have soft snow balls we pretend to make snow men with and end this activity with a snow ball fight.
