MemberNovember 4, 2024 at 5:33 pmWe do songs at circle time where we ask each child to jump around or show us a trick. This allows them to be physically active in the classroom

Set up different areas with activities that encourage physical skills, like a “balance station” with tape lines on the floor, a “jump zone” with mats, or a “dance corner” with music. Rotating these activities can keep kids excited to try new things.

Having toys and activities that are educational but also fun and engaging, planning activities that are fun and active (such as dance parties, head shoulder knees and toes, etc.), greeting children warmly and with respect so they feel welcomed and confident to participate in these activities

Not expecting kids to sit still more then is developmentally appropriate. Adding in fun and interactive activities such as songs, games, and free play.

To create a developmentally appropriate, fun, and physically active classroom, integrate moving and learning together: action songs, role-playing, or counting games that require jumping or dancing. Provide activities that range from structured events to unstructured ones to allow children to explore and be creative. Activity stations can be set up with child-sized equipment-ball pits, hula hoops, and/or balance beams-that are comparable to their stage of development. Prioritize outdoor play for vigorous activity while completing safety checks. Balance active times with quieter times, like yoga or stretching, which will recharge the child’s batteries. Encourage group games that promote teamwork and social ability, enabling a dynamic environment in which children learn and move.
-
Tips for creating a developmentally appropriate, fun and physically active classroom would be incorporating movement into your daily routine by using music, yoga, games and even fun exercises. You can also make it okay to allow children to move as needed like with wiggle chairs, standing or maybe jumping in place as long as it is not a distraction.
-
Incorporate Movement into Learning: Use activities like dancing or action songs to make learning active and enjoyable. Maximize outdoor time with running, climbing, and nature exploration to build motor skills

I mean like having a dance break and playing a song, playing Simon says and doing jumping jacks etc. You can also spread out toys all across the room rather then just putting them in the middle to encourage them to move across the classroom.

MemberNovember 27, 2024 at 7:06 pmWe play fun songs that they love dancing to like the floor is lava. As soon as they say the floor is lava they all run to get off the floor. We also like to play games like tag outside and one of my co-teachers does yoga with them as well.

If someone pretends to be Scooby Do them he/she might want to behave like him doing yoga for the next 10 mins. I know it is silly but it really works for the children under my care.

MemberNovember 30, 2024 at 7:24 amWe have certain songs in our classroom that involve jumping and each Childs name. This always excites the children and makes them feel included. Also, by starting the day with greetings.
