Start with trust exercises so children can get comfortable and warmed up, then incorporate music or games or both into the mix, this will engage the children and make them thing doing something like clean up or nap time seem like more of a fun game.

It’s easier to break down physical activity for children in smaller chunks. Physical movement can be worked in as ways to transition between activities. Games can be played in relation to curriculum (animals: stop like and elephant, etc). Adding music to movement can help encourage active play as well.

We try to sing songs that have lots of motions. We also play games where we roll a dice and do the action that is written. We also run races.

I think dancing is a fun yet a simple way to provide children with daily exercise. Make up movements to songs they love and find ways to incorporate those dances every day.

Keeping a dramatic play area, playing songs that the child can dance to and games are good ways for a child to be physically active in the classroom.

As soon as I walk into a class I greet children by their names, and sit with them to join in whatever activity is presently happening. I pay attention to new words children are learning and use the serve and return method to communicate. During transition times, I sing lots of songs and say rhymes, it helps the children focus and stay content to switch to a new activity. We march around and play follow the leader or sing the ants go marching. We have dance parties and jump like a rabbit when we are reading the kids favorite bunny book!

Tips for include, making a game or song out of the physical activity, make sure to join in on the physical activity, provide plenty of positive affirmation when the children are doing the activity and making sure to give children a choice in what they are doing.

Always be welcoming and inviting, positive attitude, have multiple areas of play, posters, projects on the wall, lots of color, themes. Activites to interact.

Some things I Really enjoy doing is shaking out our bodies to get rid of some of the wiggles. We also like to do small prizes and rewards for positive behavior. This in very encouraging for them. I also really like to do body moving games such as moving in slow motion then as fast as you can for example.

After afternoon snack, we often play interactive songs where the kids follow along with the dance moves called out. It’s a great, and safe way, for them to get moving inside the classroom and acts as a good transition while slower eaters finish up.

incorporate periods of physical activity into the schedule at least 3time during the day. Let’s move, wiggle time, let’s dance. teach children how to jump, hop, skip. Place a piece of tape on the floor and teach them how to walk the line/balance.

set up an obstacle course to build strength and coordination.

I think getting to know each child’s personality and the vibe you are getting in that moment may help you understand what a good or productive activity is. i also think showing them or playing with them help plenty.

Songs are a good and interactive way to create a developmentally and physically active classroom. Sometimes at the end of the day, I play music for the children and let them have a dance party too.

By incorporating movement or physical activity into the daily routine and making it fun and engaging (using games or songs etc) one can make a developmentally appropriate, fun, and physically active classroom.
