I think that watching TV should be up to the parents and they should watch it at home if they’re going to watch it

I feel like there is a time and place for screen time but I am not sure if that falls in child care. I guess it could be used as an education tool or a reward say like the kids earned a movie day for example but over all I think there are other ways we can engage children with out the use of screens

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines, screen time for children should be limited. Children under the age of 18 months should not use TV, tablet, mobile phone or other devices. For children 18-24 months: no more than half an hour per day of screen time alongside an adult. Try to avoid solo screen use in this age group. Children 3-5 years: an hour of screen time per day. For children over the age of 6: 2 hours or less of sedentary screen time daily.

Screen time is not my preference. I feel it’s ok in moderation and for educational purposes only.

Having screen time for 1-2 hours a day will be fine, but ideally no longer. Screens can have consequences on child development.

I don’t think actual visual screen time is necessary in childcare, I do believe educational music and tones can benefit need for stimulation and interaction. I fully believe it needs to be shown through the teacher in the classroom.

I have a daughter and i only give her screen time an hour a day and she learns good from a song show that wont make her believe in fantasy but learn how to talk and sing. I think screen time is not bad only if you make it too much of a time for your child to be on.

At the learning center I teach at we only use screen time our I PAD for certain times for like yoga stretch time so children can see the movements and for certain dance activites. But other then that we are all about having hands on learning activites inside and especially outisde the classroom. We find it very important to have outdoor learning and playtime.

I don’t think childcare centers should use screens. There should be lots of toys, activities, and chances for social interactions with peers that screens aren’t needed. Screen time should be saved for home, if parents decide to use it.

Personally in childcare I think it should be screen free, kids get so much screen time at home and I think a childcare center should provide better care than putting them in front of a screen

As an early learning professional, I believe that screen time for children in childcare should be limited and carefully monitored. While technology can have educational benefits, it’s important to prioritize hands-on, interactive, and developmentally appropriate activities for young children.

In my opinion, managing screen time for children in childcare is essential. While technology can offer educational benefits, it should be used in moderation and with a purpose. Screen time should align with age-appropriate content and be integrated into a well-rounded curriculum that includes hands-on, active, and interactive activities. Additionally, it’s crucial for childcare providers to maintain a balance between screen time and other developmentally appropriate experiences that promote physical, social, and cognitive development. Screen time should never replace essential interactions with caregivers and peers. Overall, it’s about using technology as a tool to enhance learning while prioritizing children’s holistic development and well-being.

I feel that screentime in child care is okay as long as it is in moderation. I feel that music is okay and teaching with blocks or things outside of the screen is okay, but fir long periods of time screens are not the best for childhood development. They are not able to teach themselves as much, as well as they are sitting for way to long. I feel that they should be running and getting their energy out

Personally, I think if screen time is used for educational purposes, it may not be that bad.
