Honestly, it’s all about balance. A bit of screen time here and there can be cool, especially if it’s educational or just a fun break. But we definitely wanna mix it up with lots of playtime and hands-on activities too. It’s all about finding that sweet spot.

What are your thoughts on screen time for children in childcare?

I think screen time should be allowed for toddlers to two years old when they have a short attention span but once they are at an age where they can do arts and crafts and a lease draw then screen time should be limited, so when doing tasks like diapers then they can be distracted instead of pulling out 50 baskets of toys in 10 different directions

What are your thoughts on screen time for children in childcare?

My thoughts on screen time for children in childcare are that children should only have screen time to listen to rhythms, songs, or factual information that the children should know. I personally don’t believe in watching television shows for younger kiddos because they do not gain any more education. Otherwise, if the show contains education, such as on their level, then I would let them watch or listen to one show per day.

I think that it is important for toddlers to not have any screen time, but it can be good if used in moderation for older children if they are trying to create something or imagine about something they just watched

I feel that screen time is something that should be completely left up to the parent in the setting of their home. Because we understand how likely it is for a parent to use screen time to allow them to get other tasks completed around the house, it is likely these children are getting screen time once they get back home. Instead of screen time at school, I feel music and audio books are a good substitute. For the older children(school aged children or children 3-4+ short videos could be acceptable when using it for a teachable moment.

I think at times for certain ages, screen time can be an okay and beneficial learning tool, but I do not believe in any means it is necessary.

    – Excessive screen time can lead to a sedentary lifestyle, contributing to obesity, eye strain, and physical inactivity.

    – Screen time can impact mental health, potentially leading to increased stress, anxiety, and decreased attention span.

    – Screen time can affect sleep patterns, leading to insomnia, daytime fatigue, and other sleep-related issues.

    – Excessive screen time can hinder social skills development, empathy, and face-to-face communication.

    – Parents should set age-appropriate limits, encourage physical activity, and monitor content to ensure a healthy balance.

    – Alternative activities like reading, outdoor play, and creative pursuits can enrich children’s lives and promote well-rounded development.

    – Education and open dialogue can help children develop responsible screen use habits and a healthy relationship with technology.

Remember, a balanced approach is key!

I feel like a bit of screen time a day for children is ok because depending on what you are showing them it can be educational but you shouldn’t get them used to it.

I think screen time should be extremely limited in childcare centers. Really the only time I think screen time should occur at childcare is when there is extreme cases (such as extreme weather when children cannot play outside). Then maybe showing a short movie for 30 minutes, once or twice a year is ok.

Mumtaz, I agree. Screen time should be minimal in childcare, reserved for exceptional circumstances only.

According to me, little bit of screen time is okie because there are some concepts with kids can understand by seeing the video and then if we experiment with them they do understand better. But for younger kids I think they can just listen to rhymes and songs.

Screen time has no place in a childcare setting.

What are your thoughts on screen time for children in childcare? I think children should definitely be avoiding screentime as much as possible if under 2. Older children should minimize screentime but should also be educated on how to use and manage technology.

For baby’s and younger toddlers, I don’t think screen time is a good idea. For older kids however, It can be a fun treat or tool to use while making their lunch etc.

I would say kids shouldn’t be expose to screen time at a day care center. Maybe pre-school children can but infants or younger children shouldn’t in my opinion. I would say it’s fine to use screen time for like a song.

I think screen time should not be used at a preschool. The studies show its negative impact and its a well researched fact.
