I think most situations would be benefited from written policies. Such as reward systems, emergency and health policies, food policies, diaper changing policies and more. Its always good to be clear and having written policies lowers the chance for confusion of mistake.

I think in more situations than not it would be useful to have written guidelines so that each caretaker know the appropriate way to handle a situation. This includes but is not limited to injury/illness, misbehaving, bullying, and a child acting out.

Written policies assures that all staff members are aware of the expectations for that program. Remember, parents are also aware of the policy and want their child to be treated fairly and justly.

I think the guidelines will be useful when there are high stress situations. They will provide clear directions when there are chaotic moments, and everyone is feeling overwhelmed.
