First, i will highlight low student to teacher ratio which means more teachers in one classroom to ensure the safety of the children. Then, i will mention each main door are locked from outside, outdoor camera, fenced play area, etc.

Things to discuss with a prospective parent:

This is usually done by the director, but I can follow up by asking if they have any questions or want clarification.

    Cleaning daily

    Cleaning during the day

    Reporting an injury

    Calling about a sick child

    Safety on the playground

Fire drills, shelter in place drills, and earthquake drills

How to contact if parent not available

How to contact someone out of town if it’s a local emergency such as earthquake

How to report development and if there are any red flags, and what red flags mean.

Handwashing and toilet use for children

    Extra clothing

First making the families feel welcomed and comfortable because parents/guardians can feel nervous or feel sad during this process due to leaving their child in a place they aren’t sure is safe or not knowing the teachers well, which is okay because we all have that concern as well and that is why were are here to answer any questions or concerns during the tour. We would explain the parents/guardians their daily routine, handwashing policies and procedures, and showing them our emergency exits and our practice procedures. Also letting them know if they need to assure their children’s safety, they can let us know if anything changes or their child’s behavior, needs, we can always call them or them calling us to make sure their child’s doing okay.

I would highlight my centers windows. The glass is bullet proof for extra security as well as they can’t be broken my natural elements and children. The windows on the second story also have bars on the ones that open so that a child can’t fall out. All of our blinds are also stringless so Children can’t choke on them.

Kalista, it’s great to hear about the safety measures in place at your center. Highlighting the bulletproof glass and window bars on the second story is important to reassure parents about the physical safety of the environment. It’s also good to mention the stringless blinds, as it shows attention to detail in preventing potential hazards for the children. However, it’s important to balance the emphasis on physical security with a warm and welcoming atmosphere to create a sense of comfort for the children and parents. Perhaps you could also mention other safety procedures related to staff training, emergency protocols, and sanitation measures to provide a comprehensive overview. Great job on considering the safety aspects of your program!

The safety features I would go over for a new timing touring parent would be as follows; the centers cleaning policy how many steps it is, and what exact products are being used. Toileting, or diaper changing stations, as well as privacy concerns, eating areas and food, preparation, and drills or emergency protocols.

I would highlight how are cleaning supplies are kept accessible to adults, but inaccessible to children. I would show our child sized sinks, and how everyone, even teachers use them to teach good handwashing skills. I would also highlight how the doors of the school are locked from the outside to keep strangers out, but are not from the inside, so in case of an emergency, its an easy escape.

Describe the measures taken by the facility to provide secure access, such as limiting access for unauthorized persons and controlling entrance points. Emphasize that staff members have received training in emergency response protocols, CPR, and first aid to guarantee the children’s protection in the event of an accident or medical emergency. Explain the rigorous supervision guidelines used by the program to guarantee that kids are under the constant observation of knowledgeable and caring professionals.
