I would invite my parents and tell them about the program of my kindergarten, and how educators spend their days with children, I would tell them about educators. Then, I would invite them to see the kindergarten and tell them that everything in the kindergarten is provided for by age and that everything is safe

First thing I would do when giving a parent a tour is, I would start of with a warm welcome and introduce myself to the guardian and the child/children and I would show them the different classrooms. I would also tell them kind of what to expect during the day such as activities, playground, bathrooms, the kitchen, sanitization/cleaning products we use, safety hazards (if any), first aid kits and where we keep them, allergy records/charts, security and cameras on the building and in the classrooms and I would walk them through the schedule so they kind of have an idea of what we do here during the day. Lastly, I would ask if they have any questions and let them know that I will do my best to answer and when we are done with the tour and questions, I would tell them that I hope that they enjoy the rest of your day and that I hope to see them again.

As they enter the center, I will welcome them and introduced myself. I will pointed out we have double locked doors from outside as we monitor our visitors and to keep safety as a priority. Then, I will give them a tour of the classroom indicating that we have an entry and exit door in every classroom. Our furniture is secured to walls or floor, outlets are out of reach of children. I will also pointed out that every classroom has telephone and intercom system, bathroom access and material to deal with toileting accidents. I will point out sink area and water access. I will show them where we keep our cleaning supply and first aid safely storage, and point out our camera monitoring of every classroom and playground to keep children safe and allow parents to check on their kids at any time.

I would definitely discuss school security, faculty trainings we have to go through, classroom safety.

While giving classroom and school tours, I’ll make sure to give them rundowns of our safety procedures regarding events such as earthquakes or fires. I’d also direct them to our first aid kids and our injury policy. It is also helpful during a tour to highlight the benefits and best parts of our classrooms to ensure the parents the children are having an enriching experience in a safe environment.

I would be sure to focus on the joy of the room first. I would show parents where important information is posted and where they can leave things. I would show our daily schedule and explain our routine, but I would also take the time to explain safety procedures as far as emergency drills and preparedness go.

Safety procedures I would highlight while giving parents a tour through my facility are; fire exits; areas where emergency procedures/supplies are posted; all doors to outside lock securely, and windows have privacy shades (in the event of a lockdown); location of walkie-talkies for staff communication; and location of fire extinguishers/AED.

Welcoming the family. Showing them the classrooms. Explaining to them that this is a controlled environment which means that anything there is their height and anything in there is for them to use because it is appropriate for them to use. We do not allow anything else in the classroom that is not appropriate for the children’s use. We also explain the importance of our schedule and handwashing explaining where things are that perhaps if a child needs medication it is not just lying around it is a pie where a child cannot reach and a teacher gives that child their medication only asked by parents approval and buy a doctors note. So things about safety I’m sure it would be very helpful for them to feel more safe and wanting to come here. And also to see that children are actually happy to go to school and doing things.

I would point out gates and any childproofed furniture, along with childproof locks on cabinets and hazardous materials out of reach. I would point out first aid kits and inform them of which teachers have first aid/CPR training.

After welcoming a potential family into our classroom I would give a brief tour of the environment. There are potential hazards everywhere, for example scissors and pencils, but I would assure the families that we give extensive lessons on all work before placing it our on the shelves. I would point out our ratios are low and we as a community are responsible for each other by giving reminders when necessary

I would highlight the emergency backpacks; our first aid bag, and grab and go bag that are in each room. I would also highlight how smaller toys that could be a choking hazard when played with unmonitored, are kept far out of reach.

I would highlight how often we clean and sanitize things, the procedures we go through to maintain a safe environment, and how often we reevaluate.
