The safety procedures that can be highlighted on the tour would be fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, safety gates, plexiglass to separate the food prep and diaper changing areas. Shelves should either be short or anchored to the wall. There should be fire exits in addition to the main exits. The outlets should all have plastic outlet covers. There must be a fence around the outside play areas. The center should be well ventilated. Of course we want good marketing tactics during the tour, but this is the safety module asking about the safety highlights.
-

I would highlight the first aid kit, the training required for staff (CPR, first aid, safe sleep, food handlers card), food prep safety, emergency preparation plans, and fire extinguishers.

I would highlight the areas their children would be in, as it would be different based on age. I would indicate the safety precautions in the areas, what our general routines and schedules look like, and what the educational environment for each age bracket looks like. I would do as much open ended questioning as I can so I can get to know the family and child too, to make sure I know what their areas of concern are and can address them early.
-
Allison, your response beautifully emphasizes the importance of tailored safety measures and open communication with families. Highlighting age-specific areas and routines fosters trust and ensures parents feel informed and secure. Great job!

I would highlight the locked doors on all the closets that might have high items, tripping hazards, or cleaning solutions that are stored out of reach of children. I would also point out the secure fence (that isn’t chain link, so people cannot easily see into it) around the outdoor play areas, and the cleanliness of the bathrooms for both staff/parents and children. I would also mention that there is a janitor who does mopping, and bathroom cleaning, and that the center staff only need to sweep, clean tables and sinks.
