MemberJune 21, 2025 at 6:53 pmI discovered that the the state legislature decided to make a single set of licensing standards to make sure all programs are working towards the same goals and are held up to the same standards. I was surprised how many types of jobs require licensing, since ive done a lot of volunteer work without licensing and didn’t know how much work went into switching from a volunteer to an employeeThe WAC will make me aware of standards in my day to day child care, and will make me more assured that those around me also know what they are doing.
-
Great insights, Catalina! Understanding licensing standards enhances professionalism and ensures quality care in child development. Keep exploring!

MemberJune 24, 2025 at 5:20 pmI am not surprised by any of the WACs, but I am surprised that 5 is the minimum number of employees needed to abide by the rules, and not 1. What I discovered is that there are more relating to paperwork than I initially assumed, which seems important so centers/parents can have rapid access to policies when a situation arises. I can see how WACs will shape my daily interactions because they provide guidelines on how things should be in an ideal workplace.

After reviewing WAC Chapter 110-300, I learned that all providers caring for children from birth to 12 years must be licensed to ensure safety and quality, and I believe these regulations are essential because they help protect children and support their growth every day.

First of all I want to say that the WACs contains of so much important information’s regarding, running or working in a child care setting in Washington state. The details needed from numbers, education, health and safety requirements forms and records needed. I think its a valuable resource that I need to gat familiar with and come back to during my practice. One thing I was suppressed about is that a family daycare aid can be as young as 14, I think its a great thing but it was a fact I didn’t know about before. I love giving youth the chance to work and discover their passion early. The WACs will decently impact my day to day practice, with all the rich information it contains I can see myself coming back to it to check back on certain requirements or to trouble shoot a problem I run into. I think its like (encyclopedia ) of ECL in Washington state.
