The WAC is very detailed and has information about how to operate a daycare facility. It surprised me at the level of thought that was put into the WACs. I can see the influence the WAC will have since it provides clear guidelines that I can follow.

I discovered from the activity about WACs that you must be licensed by the department for a group of children ages birth through 12 years old unless you have an exempt under RCW. Was I surprised by any of the WACs? I don’t think I was, but it was a good reading and has some good advice in it Can I see how the WACs will influence my day to day practice in caring for children? It will influence me to have better understanding in how I should care for children on a day to day basis and learn more as I do it and follow the WACs information

I discovered that the WACs are very thorough but was surprised to see that you also need to be licensed if you were caring for children in your own family home that is not related to you. I can see how the WACs will influence my day-to-day practice in caring for children by being aware of what all needs to be in place for the safety and health of the children.

I was not particularly surprised by the WAC’s, as it absolutely makes sense why the licensing guideline and rules would have to be so thorough and strict in a childcare environment. It’s important to ensure the safety of all children and also employees in terms of liability for these exactly rules. I think that the different areas that the WACs cover and protect are clearly well-thought-out and I could easily see how they can influence the way I work and interact with kids, families and coworkers.

I discovered how detailed the WAC is, and how much information there is for operating a daycare facility. I was not really surprised by any of them, but it was a little surprising how detailed they were. I can see the influence of the WAC since it has clear guidelines that I can follow.

One thing about the WAC Chapter 110-300 that surprised me was that the rules listed applied for childcare institutions serving children up to 12 years of age. I didn’t expect such a high age to fall under these rules but believe that it makes sense that they do. I do not believe that the WAC 110-300 will influence my current practices as a float instructor but I do believe that it will be good to have this knowledge regardless.

    1. I learned that the WACs are rules that help keep children safe and healthy. They tell us what we need to do in child care, like cleaning, watching the kids, and keeping records.2. Yes, I was surprised by how detailed some of the rules are. For example, there are rules about how to wash hands, how to store food, and how many kids one adult can watch.3. Yes, because the WACs help me know what to do every day to keep kids safe. They guide me on how to clean, play, teach, and take care of the children the right way.

I saw how rigorous and specific the licensing criteria are, covering not just where the care is provided, but also who can hold a license. The WAC doesn’t especially suprise me as it mostly reflects standard and logical expectations for maintaining a well-regulated child care system. This would definitely affect my day-to-day practice caring for children by being more particular and careful with providing appropriate supervision and concern for the conditions of where the childcare takes place and how I communication with families.

What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? Something that I discovered about the WACs while completing this activity is the importance and influence environment, community and society have on the foundational beliefs of children. I didn’t get the same parenting or education growing up as most people so its always been an internal belief of mine that life isn’t fair and unfortunately no matter what bad stuff happens to you by other people, its your personal responsibility to fix the problems in your life others have caused and when you can, help others on there journey as well. I especially see the relationships between environment, community and society throughout section two, and how those influence people. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?Something that I discovered about the WACs while completing this activity is that the handbook is actually quite easy to digest. As someone who has a background in an admin position for the government, a lot of regulations are published in these long redundant organized forms that you have to just control F to even find the information you are looking for. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? I can definitely see how the WACs will influence my day-to-day as long as I keep a disapline of continued growth and understanding in childcare development. Adopting new mental models for how to live your live is especially important since we reflect our own mental models on children that are extremely impressionable. In context to my answer to question one, because I went through hardship as a little guy means its extra important for me to create a safe learning environment for children so they don’t have to do the extra work of being a well adjusted person like I did.

1: I discovered that the WACs are a tool to positively impact teaching practices rather than just laws. I learned that they can be a helpful resource to ensure best practices. 2: I was surprised that an early learning provider has the responsibility to inform parents or guardians about the importance of developmental screenings up through age 5 and to share local resources for where they can access developmental screenings.3: I think the WACs will influence my daily practice with students because they will affect my daily schedule with students, the health and food practices, and the information I communicate with parents.
