Something our Assistant director has started to do is leave up a butcher paper in the staff break room and it usually asks what went well during the work week or any ideas we could bring to life in our classrooms. It has been beneficial especially since we have some new staff that don’t necessarily want to speak out but want to contribute to our teacher community.

Em, creating a space for staff to share ideas on butcher paper is a great way to encourage collaboration and creativity. It’s inclusive and allows everyone to contribute.

I like to ask a question of the week to staff pertaining to something happening or that needs to happen.

I encourage an open door policy for bringing ideas

    I survey families regularly

We use an app for communication

I do my best to create a non-judgemental atmosphere to create a feeling of safety

How we can team up at our daycare to boost creative thinking is by giving everyone the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas. Maybe through like a discussion board or just by going around and talking to them.

Because yes everyone has the same question to answer but not everyone has the same point of view. And making sure that we reiterate that this is a safe place and that no answer is “dumb” or “stupid”

    Hello,
I think a way of idea sharing in our center could be by instigating an “idea box” in our staff room. Then we could review suggestions during our every other month staff meeting. Another way to share ideas is to send pictures and general idea of things that are working well in classroom through our staff chat group. While it might not necessarily translate into older/younger classes -it might get gears turning.

Our center is very small and there is only one other staff member besides myself. It is very easy for us to share ideas with each other and to make changes when good ideas come along. I do like the idea of implementing a more structured time intended to brainstorm over options that could exist for our weaker areas as a center.

Cindy, it’s wonderful that you and your colleague already have open communication. Adding structured brainstorming time will definitely help improve those areas and encourage even more creative solutions.

I really like the idea of doing a group session brainstorm on a whiteboard.

Briele, using a whiteboard for group brainstorming is a great visual tool! It helps everyone see ideas clearly and encourages more input from the whole team. A simple yet effective approach!

Daily our staff collaborates on ideas to implement new strategies to keep the student(s) interested at peak levels. The ideas that work well serve in our choices to implement into curriculum plans. We have a small center and interact with each other frequently. Our group has staff meetings, usually the boss takes us out to dinner and a casual meeting to make sure everything is running smoothly and how we can improve situations if needed. We also have had team building activities/outings to make us be a more cohesive group.

We get together before each shift and talk about things and we have monthly meetings with all of the employees. Another thing you can do that we just started is a suggestion box. That way people can say things anonymously and not feel embarrassed or afraid that their ideas will not be good enough.

At our center we have meeting where all staff come and we can ask questions and stuff if needed or if we have any new ideas that need to be shared we can share those too. It a great time when all staff are together so we can share our thoughts and corners we have with the team.

At my place of work, we hold monthly meetings with the staff to discuss ideas on how we can provide better care for the children and also obtain monthly meeting for the parents to receive feedback from them as to how we can do better and understand the family’s needs.

I could encourage staff when having team brainstorming sessions, no idea is a bad idea. I could provide my staff with an open feedback culture.

We love showing our appreciation to our staff. Every few months we host Staff Outings where we go do an activity together. We also have super fun Holiday Parties and Appreciation Meals/Gift Cards throughout the year!
