I make handwashing fun and exciting for kids by turning it into a playful activity. I like to sing songs or make up a fun handwashing dance to ensure they wash their hands for the right amount of time. Sometimes, I use colorful soap that foams up or smells nice to grab their attention

Making up a fun handwashing song and having a variety of fun soaps to choose from! Another way to keep kids engaged with handwashing is to play “superhero” and fight off the germs with our soap and scrubbing powers!

A fun and interactive way to teach children how to properly wash their hands it is by first demonstrating them how to wash them properly while singing an educational child-friendly song. Then afterwards have all children demonstrate the childcare provider how to wash the hands as a group and individually.

We do an activity where we paint plastic animals and then let the kids use soap to clean them off. We talk about how we use the soap to take off the paint (germs). And we also sing songs to make it a fun experience and help them remember the process.

incorporating nursery rhymes or other music may help younger ages draw and hold more attention. Other ways to help kids engage in the hand washing process could be making activities that show kids where germs can be and how to clean them. Hands on activities also may draw more attention as well.
