I would highlight the emergency exits and where/what our emergency plans are, show the room the child would be in, ask if they had questions/concerns, our typical routines.

The inability to properly help kids in homes that don`t qualify as abuse under the state but are harming the childs development regardless. I worry about how it would be out of my control but all I could do is remind myself that I am there to help them know that the whole world isn’t that way

I personally don`t agree with much screen time of any kind for children until around the ages of being a teenager and then with guidance. During transitions, having the kids pick up after themselves or drink some water to help those who struggle to transition from activity to activity. That way, the transition is easier for most, they learn the habit of picking up after themselves, and remember to drink water more.
