Activities are easily accessible and they can move from one to the next making choices they are confident in.

some good ways to approach a parent about developmental screening of their child could be a touchy subject so going into it having drafted and even practiced what you are going to say to a colleague is a good idea to help ensure that you are using objective words and not subjective. you’ll also want documentation of observation and formal assessments going into the conversation so you have evidence to back up what you are talking to them about. if it is something that their child might need outside help with having a list of resources readily available for them so they know their next steps and that you have connections with those resources can help ease their worry and know that they are in good hands. ultimately I think it is important to let the parent know that you and the parent both want the same thing and that you are working towards the same goal and by getting them help early they can help them achieve proper guidance for their development and growth.

• Observing and documenting a child’s development can help early learning providers because we can then determine whether or not the child is on the right path for growth and development or whether or not they need extra help and focus on certain areas it can also help us to create and adjust our curriculum by knowing where the majority of the class falls and who may or may not need help for certain activities.

hello!! im not sure if im replying in the correct manner for the discussion, but here were my thoughts on the WAC hunt:

1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? There was a lot more to it than I originally thought there would be, it was very in depth.
2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? Yes and no, I think with the care of children we should have many standards and regulations in place to ensure they are in a healthy and positive environment, however I was surprised at how in depth the WAC was.
3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? yes I can see how the WACs would affect my day to day because they help us care for children in positive and safe ways by following regulations and standards. They help early learning childcare providers to maintain positive learning environments that support children growth and development as well as safety and health.
