some of the best ways to help children to self regulate are to role play when they are calm, practice deep breathing daily, body checks, and temperature charts for feelings.

some examples of responsive exchange could be to listen to the child when they are talking, acknowledge them even if you are busy and let them know you will give them your full attention in a minute. provide them with safe, supportive and loving environment. Help them work through their emotions.

I would suggest listening to the child, and if you are busy when they approach you let them know that you see and hear them and you will be right with them, and then once you are done give them your full attention. Also quietly listening to them when they are talking without interrupting waiting for them to finish and then speak. Giving them choices so they can feel independent and then supported in their decision. Spending quality time with them doing what they like to do and following their lead.

Yes I think those written policies would be useful in situations like emergencies, injuries, behavior reports, illness. I think all those need written policies so staff and parents know the steps in which these kids of situations will be handled so there are no surprises, and so easy steps are available to follow and handle situations.

The safest place for a baby to sleep is a single-level crib, infant bed, bassinet or playpen.

ways to create a fun, appropriate and physically active classroom are to have jobs/activities in which they have to get multiple pieces in multiple trips. so say they are doing a job that has several pieces, instead of them trying to carry everything at once and risking the chance of it all falling teaching them to take multiple trips to get all their supplies. another option is to have daily active stretching or exercises together to help get the body moving and clear the mind and lift the energy the class can do this all together when gathered at circle or in between transitions. Another option is to incorporate dance parties where the kids get to move and have fun.

You can make healthy habits fun for kids by creating a game out of it, singing songs while doing it and doing the habits together.

as the parents enter I would greet them and welcome them to the school. Along the tour I would share many of the fun and exciting things their child will get to do and learn and how they will grow. While doing that ill include how we maintain the safety of the children by the way in which our environment is set up, how we clean and sanitize everything, our hand washing procedures and what we do when children or staff are sick. I think its important for them to know that when we think about their child learning and developing we think of how the environment will impact that and also how to keep it as safe as we can in ways that allow the child to develop creative self choices.

If I were to suspect possible forms of abuse or neglect, I would talk with my lead teacher to see if they have noticed any of the same things I have. I would then make a report and document what I saw/heard and what was reported to keep it on file and record.

my advice for creating and maintaining a good relationship with parents is to always be welcoming, from the first time you meet them to everytime you greet them after. 1. If you were the parent/family of a young child, what three things would you want most from your child’s care provider? I am a parent of a young child in an early learning center and the three things that I want the most are educational development I want to see progress with his learning. I also want to know that he is safe and being treated well, as well as treating others kindly in return. I also want him to be able to be embraced for who he is and making friends and connections.
    2. Identify three fears you might have when leaving your child in someone’s care. Three fears that I have leaving him in someones else’s care is whether or not he is safe, if he is getting enough attention and care, and if he is having fun and making friends.

  • A creative way to get children engaged and active in meaningful learning would be to have them bring a picture of a place they have traveled to, whether near or far. Then all the children could gather and we could share the pictures. The children would get the chance to share something they have done, they would get to experience serve and return with their peers. And they would get the chance to tell us things they learned or saw on their trip. This would help them to learn about where they went, what they did, what they saw, and it would build their connection with other students, they would get to learn the patience of waiting while others speak and being respectful while other students are taking their turn sharing. It would also help build their confidence by speaking in front of the class. And for those who may be nervous the teacher could help or if there are several who are nervous it could be broken up and shared into smaller groups.

When creating a routine, keep it simple, build off of habits so they know after I do this then I do that. keep things easily accessible for children so they can go throughout the day and follow the routine with some independence and self management. have triggers for when its time to transition and switch gears so they know what to do next, or what is coming next in the day.
