Do you have any tips or advice on creating and maintaining a daily schedule for children?

the advice i have on creating a daily schedule is to not leave any empty space in a routine as a full schedule is important to keeping the child interested. maintaining the daily schedule involves consistency whenever possible. Sometimes things pop up that are unavoidable, such as an earthquake drill. Maintaining the schedule the remainder of the day is vital in keeping a situation calm.

components of a good early learning environment include multiple centers to maximize the space of the classrooms. Centers that should be included in each classroom environment are dress up/role play, art, science, quiet center with literature provided with mat and pillows, plenty of storage, personal child storage near the door, and many more.

  • you must approach a parent objectively with observations ready to share with the oarent to back up what your saying. You need to have evidence to what you are saying. At the same time you must be sympathetic to the parents possible overwhelming feelings as you may be the firs tto address the atypical development of their child.

  • Knowing where a child is at in every aspect of development by observation is important in providing the appropriate activities to promote the most growth while a child is in your care.

I have mixed feelings on screen time because I feel as though in this generation, technology is extremely important. Some toddlers know how to work an iphone which is indicative of the time they spend on screens, but is also quite impressive.

In childcare, screen time should be rare since it might be inevitable at home. Although, Ipads are a staple in modern kindergarten classrooms these days. This is why I have mixed feelings on screen time at childcare.

  • An activity I do to create a “serve and return” classroom is art time. As a teachers assistant I have time throughout the day to do art activities with each child just 2-4 kids at a time. Each child has adequate attention to create as they desire and have everything available to them with adult assistance. The outcome surprises me everytime. The idea is that each kid is inspired by one idea and the creative differences are amazing when given the freedom and assistance.

I think one way that diversity could be celebrated is by encouraging families to share with the students there traditions. Having guest speakers for holidays not commonly celebrated in America would be beneficial in teaching diversity to children.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?
    2. The WAC’s are intact for not only the children but are also helpful to the ECE providers.

    3. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?
    4. I was surprised at how in depth the WAC’s were, with thought to every possible scenario leaving no questions or room to misinterpret.

<strong style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?

<strong style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>Yes, I see how the WACs will influence my day to day practice in making sure that there are no mistakes because if I am unaware of the WAC’s there is room for mistake and accident within the ECE center.
