when creating daily schedules it is important to think of your age group in mind. I would start by writing down lunch times and snacks, then allowing time for clean up and hand washing before meals. I would start the morning off after breakfast with a quiet activity and then move on to more enhanced activities. I think it would also be wise in including children in the schedule planning if it is age appropriate to do so.

A good way to start would be to make and document observations. Then go over how to dress the parent with a coworker and make sure that you are sensitive and can back up your information and observations with knowledge not just opinion. It is good to have resources on hand. That way you aren’t just pointing out that the child needs help- you are giving the parent resources on how they can get their child the help they need to be successful and to overcome the difficulties they may be experiencing

observing and documenting a child’s development can help early learning providers because it can allow them to catch if a child is behind or needs more instruction. It can help the parents as well and can allow the child to have extra time to focus on areas that need improvement or to work on gaining skills that are developmentally appropriate for their age. it can allow for intervention to occur sooner rather than later as well.

oof. My child gets a lot of screen time. I can see how it effects him and his behavior and attitude. He starts to get mad when I tell him no tablet now and throws a fit. I am excited for him to start at childcare cause I am hoping he is able to keep busy without the need of videos. I think that there are plenty of other things to do at a childcare facility so movies or videos every once in awhile is ok, but having the tv on all the time, like I usually do at home is not a good thing for children.

Consider these scenarios:

1. This is the third time in the last two weeks that Mrs. Hopkins has picked up her child late. Today she did not arrive until 20 minutes after closing time. In this scenario, one could address the mother and say “hello “sally” i wanted to discuss pick up with you, is that something you have a moment to discuss with me?”

2. Lily is 20 months old. This is the second time she has bitten another child today. Lily’s mom is very upset and may pull her out. If i was the provider I would confirm that this is very common in children lily’s age and can give the mother suggestions on how we can work to help lily understand biting is not a good thing both at home and in school. Make it seem like a team effort.

3. The family was very upset when they came to pick up their son and found him dressed as a princess. They say they’re worry about him being teased and/or not understanding appropriate “male” behavior. For this one I would probably say that during story telling all the boys wanted to be princesses while all the girls decided to be knights(if that is the case) and I understand where they are coming from

4. Mom is angry because her child got magenta tempera on her shirt and it wouldn’t wash out. The shirt is ruined. In a situation like this I could try to get the stain out and ask the mother if she knows any home remedies that might be able to help

5. Dad is yelling at his son because the son does not want to stay at the childcare center. Dad is extremely frustrated because he is late for work. I would ask the dad if i could step in and distract the child. If he says yes I would offer to help the child get ready for the day and maybe offer to do an activity that would be distracting

6. Grandma starts to cry when she drops off her grandbaby because she feels she’s abandoning her since she has to go back to work. It would be important for the grandma to know that the child is safe in your hands and also let her know that she is doing a great job

4. Some extended family members may confuse children, so they should not have a voice in raising or educating the child. (disagree- this really depends on culture. In some cases this may be correct, however in others if extended family is treated like first family and their opinions are important then that would be normal for that specific family and their culture)

5. My curriculum should be based on each individual child’s current interests.(disagree- i think it would be extremely hard to do this. A specific curriculum should be created and followed. It is ok to be doing something that a child might not enjoy. There will be other activities they might enjoy more)

6. Diversity definitely includes race and culture, but doesn’t include age, ability or family make-up. (Strongly disagree- diversity is what makes us all different including age, ability and family make up)

7. Media in general delivers fair and accurate accounts of events around the country.(disagree- there is always monitoring on the tv and i do not believe that it shows everything from around the world)

8. The United States should discontinue relations with countries that engage in human rights violations. (disagree- you don’t get rid of a dog when it digs a hole or does something naughty, you try to teach it and give it the tools to do better)

POINT OF VIEW

Religion, education, political, clothing, behavior, attitude all influence me. I know many people who do not believe the way that i do when it comes to religion and political ideologies. I usually try to look past these and get to know someone for who they are. If i do not like a persons attitude or behavior it is good to give them a chance because you never know what someone is going through, however if it is behavior and attitude that affects me and makes me feel uncomfortable then i usually avoid the person altogether. I think it is possible to change your views on things. I think knowledge and experience change our perspective more than anything else.
