  • Documenting observations and coming up with a script to communicate with the parent. Then, having expansive knowledge of resources in order to best support them is best.

  • By observing and documenting a child, early providers can assess where they are at developmentally and the range of their abilities. This can help when crafting curriculum so that the child can be best supported, especially in moving to the next stage.

    Screentime must be interactive in order for it to be beneficial, otherwise I believe it is wasting time and is just an easy distraction.

    You can do this by focusing on what they’re doing at the same time, using good words and phrases to give language to what they are doing, offering support and encouragement through facial expressions, and by moving along to the next thing as they move.

    The WACs state that these places are places of accommodation and we must communicate with families to identify their child’s developmental goals. We must honor each child’s diversity.

    I was surprised at how thorough it was. I appreciate that they took the time to develop this format, it is good to have guidelines and structure.
