Yes I think those written policies would be useful in situations like emergencies, injuries, behavior reports, illness. I think all those need written policies so staff and parents know the steps in which these kids of situations will be handled so there are no surprises, and so easy steps are available to follow and handle situations.

An approved crib, infant bed, bassinet, or play pen with a firm mattress that fits snuggly against the sides with no gaps, and no objects in the bed/crib such as a blanket, pillow, bumpers, or toys.

After building trust with the child, I think it is important to not only have developmentally appropriate toys but activities and a wide array of things to do throughout the day. Spending time outside, singing songs, dancing, reading, coloring, and painting are all ways to create a developmentally fun and active classroom.

I would happily welcome them and then take a tour inside the school but not inside the classroom. Schedule a tour after school hours if they want to look inside the classroom

I would bring it up to my lead teacher to see if it is a viable concern because she has been in the classroom for over 20 years. We would then see if we should escalate it to administration, who would then help us contact CPS. Since I work in a toddler class, I’m not sure if directly asking the child will get us any information.

my biggest worries is that something happens to a child under my care, I.e they choke or break a bone. I would feel responsible and scared in the moment. I would also be scared if I lost a child.

my advice is to keep constant communication with the family, treat them with respect, don’t be judgmental, and also always make sure to communicate the positives and negatives with them.

I would want for them to take care of my kids like they were their own, treat them equally and respectfully, teach them things in a safe and comfortable environment that will help them in the process of growing up. my 3 fears are the being hurt, treated differently/unfairly for no valid reason, not being taught knowledgable appropriate things.
