To go into the discussion I would ask if she is doing okay and if there is anything we as a daycare can do to help her get her child earlier. I’d make sure to inform her how that 20 minutes can be hard on the child as they would be last picked up and it is hard on us as staff to have to stay later than we wanted. Id also tell her that a once in awhile late pick up is okay because urgent matter may arise but it is important to be respectful of the staff’s time and energy. Being on time or early would also be a good skill for the child to learn.

The expectation is that all children must feel represented and accepted in the classroom, and incorporating the cultural practices of their home lives helps them to learn and develop in the classroom as well.

- What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I discovered that there were a lot more guidelines to follow in order to keep a license and not get in trouble.
- Were you surprised by any of the WACs? Yes, I was surprised by 110-300-0180 which talked about snacks and meal schedules. I found it surprising by how specific it was rather than a discussion o be had prior with parents or staff to create the best schedule for the child.
- Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes. I now know that a lot of things are not okay and stuff I wouldnt even think of have strict rules about such as pets and animals on premises.
