You should focus on blocks of time rather than pinpoints making sure there is flexibility throughout your schedule for plenty of opportunity in case a mistake was made or tantrums occur. You should start by highlighting the positive aspects of their child, following up with your concerns on certain aspects not being fully met gently introducing the idea of developmental screening and how it may beneficially check those potential areas where they might not be meeting.

Observing and documenting a child’s development allows early learning providers to gain a deep understanding of each children’s educational background highlighting their individual needs, interests, and learning styles enabling effective support of each child’s progressive development making it an easier process to tailor their curriculum and teaching strategies.

Screen-time should not be apart of childcare curriculum’s as I feel us teachers are there to teach and stimulate their brains without such tools and from the research done over the years and my personal experience it can be damaging to their critical-thinking and social-interactive skills as it is important for them to learn hands on with structure especially for the younger kids. Maybe during holidays it wouldn’t hurt to have some fun festive movies like Charlie Brown or Rudolph etc. but it would just depend on the age group because kids are very responsive to seeing certain personalities portrayed and mimicking them whether healthy or toxic.

In this situation it would be highly important to be understanding to the families situation while also informing Mrs. Hopkins why it is important to pick up on-time explaining there could be consequences if the habit continued as some faculties have a late pick-up fee per child. Although most of the time the child is not in distress, as they could be comfortable with faculty staff since they are in school day-to-day. It can cause a child’s self-esteem and well-being to depreciate causing them anxiety, lack of trust in their parents, and potential behavioral issues when repeated over-time. In this case Mrs. Hopkins would need to be informed of consequences ensuring her understanding of the importance of the situation and the incident would need to be documented.

Some instances of serve and return could include when a baby babbles, gestures, or cries you could respond with words of affirmation, conversational starters, or a hug and assess what the child needs in that moment. Some activities could include playing peekaboo, sensory play and arts and crafts.
