to me the most important components of an early learning environment are a safe and stimulating physical space, responsive and caring educators and a play based curriculum.

  • The best way to approach a parent about developmental screening of their child is to approach them with empathy and provide clear information about the benefits and process of developmental screening, and offering support and resources.

  • observing and documenting a child allows you to find out more about that child individually, you will learn things like their personalities, hobbies, skills, development range and even how that child best learns so we can help them within the classroom. documenting these observations and milestones also gives you data you can add to the Childs portfolio as well as show the parents so they can better understand where their child is when it comes to reading, writing, social play, etc.

My thoughts on screen time for children in childcare is its all about finding a healthy balance, Screens can be educational and fun but too much can take away from other important activities like playing, socializing and exploring the real world. Its important to make sure kids still have plenty of time for hands on learning and face to face interactions.

I would calmly communicate t the parent the centers policies on pick up and drop off and explain to them the importance of timely pick up for the Childs well-being and for the staffs schedules as well. I would also make sure to listen to their reasoning without judgement.
