There are so many different ways that we can engage kids that does not involve screen time. It is a shame that screen time is used so frequently in some childcare settings.

We can take notice when a child points or serves to us by returning it with attention and encouragement. We can also provide toys and other objects to help with the serve and return process.

I would ask first what challenges are happening to her parents that is making it so they are picked up 20 minutes late each time. I then would empathetically explain how this makes it hard for our staff to get home on time and how it may affect Lily.

WAC 110-300-0160 states that early childcare providers must provide learning opportunities that are culturally/ racially diverse in their curriculums, activities, and materials. both of these WACs show that it is important to include diversity in our ciriculum to make children feel safe and welcomed at childcare. It also talks about ways that we can avoid damaging children through stereotypes and discrimination.

reading about WAC made me realize the amount of resources that we have at our disposal. It also made me realize how many factors there are in providing good, safe care to children.
