But to create and maintain one is just figuring out what works for example we know that the child is hungry by 11 to 1130 so maybe have a snack at 10 o’clock. Every day. And that way by lunchtime they’re not starving. If you know that they get tired around 1 o’clock. Have the child get inside use the bathroom by 1230 that way they do not rush and they have plenty of time to calm their body down and get ready for rest. And if they go down earlier than 1 o’clock that’s even better. Yes sticking to the same every day or most days will help them in the long run with development and trust and scheduling.

To be honest to me it’s pretty easy to create and maintain a schedule for children I think that it is important that we have a schedule and routine for each child so they do not get confused and so that they are able to know what happens next and can do for example if they’re having lunch after lunch will be going outside to play so what they need to go outside to play is they have to use the bathroom put on shoes and jackets fill up their water bottles then stand in line. That is an every day thing that never changes and that’s a good thing because they are independent enough because of that routine every day.

In Montessori it is important to meet the child of where they are. The classroom needs to be a prepared environment so the child can succeed in anything they do in the classroom. I think that is a good school you need to make sure that you are inviting and kind and respectful. You need to make sure that the child needs are being met as best as they can. You need to make sure that the parents are in communication with you and vice versa.

I actually had to do a screening for a child and it was during a conference when I tried discussing it with a parent it did not go well. So had to bring in a higher person which was actually my mentor teacher. My teacher explain to the parents how important it is for that child and that it is not a bad thing it is just so we can help the child and meet them where they are at. I think if I had changed it I would’ve talk to coworkers and talk about what I would say and show them the document and suggest giving the child a screening and then give them either a link or a number that they can call to get that set up. But really we could be talking about that kind of stuff with parents before conferences and letting them know that these little things are happening and this is what we’ve been seeing. That way it will not be a surprise to them once conference comes.

When you are documenting it also gives you insight on where you need to go next with that child. For example I have 15 children in my classroom. That is a lot of children to keep track of and you may not always remember where to go next with that child you could guess but without document you will never really know that is the part we get to of the observation.

When you observe in the classroom you are able to get into a very deep insight on what the child needs. The child for example is working impractical life and is having a hard time holding a spoon or doing a tong work and is having a hard time holding the tongs. That shows us that we need to have them work more with things that have to do with three finger grip. Without that observation though we would never know what they would need and it would be hard for them to do simple tasks such as spooning or picking up little things off of the floor.

My sister went to childcare and would watch a lot of television. it started to show which was not good because she was the smartest child out of all of my siblings at that age including me. It was a big problem. There were some things that we wished would not happen and the childcare person let her do anyways which was watch almost 5 to 8 hours of TV when she was two years old the second my mom found out she took her out of that child care. But we think it is very important that even at an older age TV is not the best for the children they should be outside they should be running that should be talking and interacting with others you know daydreaming all of that. I think that screen time is not necessary. Because they have toys they have imaginations they have friends they have all of that.

Every day when we do a lesson with a child we are there to show them how things go. They then after they observe and watch then they are able to follow and do it themselves. That is part of serving and returning.

This actually happens quite often actually. A child is left here while the mom does who knows that. She is always coming here smelling like pot. Each minute she is late she gets time added and when her bill comes she has to pay a big fine because she has been late most of the days, if not all days during those week. If it continues to happen then we talk to her about it and have a meeting about it. If it still continues then we say that they must be picked up by this time by one of your okayed contacts.

STATEMENTS
1. A multicultural education curriculum should be in place in every school. 1. Believe that it is important that all children learn multicultural things in the classroom because it will help us create a normal atmosphere in the future and create open minds.

2. Families should not be expected to be involved in classroom activities. 4. Parents definitely need to be involved in classroom activities it is so the children can be helped if needed and so that the parents are able to see what the children are up to and so they can help the children with what they need appropriately and correctly.

3. All learning programs should accommodate all children with special needs. 2. I think it really depends on the child and what needs need to be met for this child because special needs is a wide range.

4. Some extended family members may confuse children, so they should not have a voice in raising or educating the child. 2. I think it depends on the situation of the child and family situation. Sometimes the mother is not involved in the grandmother needs to take old and raise that child. I do not see a problem with it unless the family is not making the best choices for the child and the child is definitely noticing it and you can see the behavior show in the classroom.

5. My curriculum should be based on each individual child’s current interests. 2. I would love if each child got a turn with the current interest. For curriculums but it is just not practical always. If a group of children are interested then I would make a unit on something special like that but it needs to be real practical and easy enough for them to learn and understand..

6. Diversity definitely includes race and culture, but doesn’t include age, ability or family make-up. 4. Really diversity is everything it could be two mothers two fathers it could be somebody who’s adopted who’s in foster care a grandmother who is taking care of a one year old. I think it does include age ability and family stuff.

7. Media in general delivers fair and accurate accounts of events around the country. I do not watch a lot of media stuff or read it just because it makes me sad or angry. But I do not think everything is correct and I do not think everything is fair a lot of it is opinions and we do not need opinions we need the facts.

8. The United States should discontinue relations with countries that engage in human rights violations. 1. See this one is a hard one because I think that we could as a country could help other countries that engage in human rights violations to see why they are wrong and to help guide them into better habits and life for family members. I also agree though that it can be a sad thing to know that that is even happening and we do want to protect our own country and our own people. So I guess I’m just neutral on this one.

I discovered that there are so many rules and things that we need to succeed in having a peaceful work environment and a safe place for children. It is good to have that big knowledgeable resources to look back on and it is even good to show new people working in a childcare setting. Some things are easy to understand and it seems like, who wouldn’t know this but I am always shocked and surprised when people do not know how to work with children or it is their first time do not know these things. So going back and showing them these things are important for a good and healthy environment and safe environment for the childcare place. I was reading some interesting WAC recourses and some of them definitely reminded me to influence my day to day practice when caring for children. I like that I can go back and check things out if needed which is so helpful if I am needed a refresher on what the expectations are.
