I think a good early learning environment lets kids explore all areas without judgement and with understanding.

i would probably ask if they had ever observer, they’re child do this behavior or struggle with that something at home to better understand the child. i would also ask if there is anything they have noticed or are concerned about to see if there is anything i need to keep a look out for.

  • observing and documenting a child’s development help’s early learning provider’s because it shows where the child is at, what they need to learn, what they have learned and the goal they need to achieve.

i think about how it affects us as adults and think about how i don’t want my children to be so attached dependent to a electronic. i also think about the kinds who have a pad Infront of them 24/7 and think about how it affects their development. i think at a certain age it is ok to let them lay learning games but i feel like that is up to the parent. in childcare i don’t think they should be around them. unless it is like a movie day that they only have a couple of times a year. i think it is very important for kids to be out and playing and not being consumed by a devise.

How do you think early learning providers can create a “serve and return” environment in their classrooms?

I think having the ABC’s and numbers on the wall and talking about them as well at photos of people doing stuff in your classroom. I also think participating in cleaning or playing as well as talking and interacting with other adults in a well manner will help them better understand the world around them.

This is the third time in the last two weeks that Mrs. Hopkins has pickup her child late. Today she did not arrive until 20 minutes after closing time. What would you do?

For one don’t be upset you have to understand that being upset because the parent didn’t come till late, and you want to go home. instead talk with the parent to find out why she hasn’t been arriving on time. it may be due to work, and she can’t get off till late or maybe it is far, and she has to deal with rush hour after work. remember to ask if there is anything you can do or provide to help her situation. it may also be help to aks if there is anyone else who can pick the child up so they are not here after hours.

    1. Which WACs address diversity and collaboration with families? WAC 110-300-0085 and WAC 110-300-0160
    2. What big messages do the WACs give regarding diversity and collaboration? I think a big message from WAC 110-300-0085, is “An early learning provider must determine how the program can best accommodate each child’s individual characteristics, strengths, and needs. The provider must utilize the information in subsection (2) of this section and seek input from family members and staff familiar with a child’s behavior, developmental, and learning patterns.” i feel like this makes it less bias to think what your program can do to better the family and child. i think it will also show the family ‘we are on your side’. from WAC 110-300-0160 i think a big message is: An early learning provider must intervene appropriately to stop biased behavior displayed by children or adults including.
