GuestDecember 8, 2024 at 1:02 amThe creative activity is a cleaning song. I will create a simple song for the children to sing while cleaning, which makes cleaning more fun and helps them remember the steps. This activity not only makes cleaning enjoyable but also allows the children to enjoy the process.

GuestDecember 10, 2024 at 3:44 amI often play the clean up song for the children or we sing it together. We try to clean up as group. Sometimes I set a timer or assign a child to a specific task like picking up books while another child puts away blocks.

GuestDecember 20, 2024 at 12:07 pmI have a I’m clean chart and at the end of day they place a star on the end of the that row. They love seeing the stars accumulate and then they get to take the chart home at the end of the month.

GuestDecember 20, 2024 at 5:14 pmI’ve always liked doing an activity that gets toys really dirty, covered in paint or something good like that. Even body painting. Then washing it all away, gets them excited about cleaning and shows that that cleaning can be something satisfying, not a chore.

GuestApril 7, 2025 at 11:16 pmTo make cleanliness lessons fun and engaging for kids, I use creative activities like a “Clean-Up Song” where children sing while tidying up, turning the task into a game. I also use a “Trash Toss” game where they sort pretend trash into the correct bins for recycling, trash, or compost, teaching them about cleanliness and the environment. Another fun activity is “Soap and Sponge” sensory play, where kids clean pretend dishes, helping them learn proper cleaning techniques. Lastly, I turn cleanliness into a challenge by calling them “cleanliness superheroes,” rewarding them with points for helping to keep their space tidy. These activities turn learning about cleanliness into an enjoyable experience for young children.

GuestApril 14, 2025 at 5:36 pmTeaching cleanliness can actually be a lot of fun when we get creative with it! I’ve found that turning everyday routines into songs, games, or pretend play really helps the lessons stick—and makes them enjoyable for the kids. One of the biggest hits in my classroom is the “Germ Detective” game. We pretend to search for “germs” around the room using magnifying glasses, and talk about all the places germs like to hide (like noses, hands, and toys). Then we practice how to get rid of them with proper handwashing. I tie it into a song we sing while we wash our hands—usually to the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle” or “ABC”—so they know how long to scrub. We also use visual cues like posters with handwashing steps and real photos of children following hygiene routines. This not only supports visual learners, but also reinforces early literacy by recognizing words and symbols.Another fun activity is setting up a handwashing relay race—kids run through stations where they pretend to use the bathroom, wash hands, and dry them properly. It turns something routine into an active learning moment! This class has reminded me how important it is to embed these skills into our daily routine in playful, meaningful ways. Cleanliness is part of self-care, and teaching it early sets the foundation for lifelong healthy habits.

GuestApril 18, 2025 at 8:20 pma lot of the students at our center love hand washing songs! these don’t have to actually be related to handwashing, any song 20 seconds or so long will do as this is the recommended length of proper hand washing.
