I was very surprised to find how well thought out, thorough and precise all the regulations are . It makes me feel as though the children are always well thought of in the sense of making sure their care providers are genuinely taking the best care of them and being well qualified for that position . The WACs will definitely be used in my day to day teaching to make sure I’m providing the best and most thorough care that I can .I was very surprised to find how well thought out, thorough and precise all the regulations are . Knowing that I have all the answers to questions I may have right online at my finger tips is very calming and helpful

    1. I discovered that the WACS were a lot more user friendly to access than in other states that I have worked. They were easy to navigate and provided quick answers to all of my questions.
    2. I was not surprised by any of the WACs. The WACs are regularly discussed at my school, so none of these were very surprising to me.
    3. I can see how putting the WACs in place ensures that I am leading the safest classroom/school possible. I will definitely use these rules to ensure that I am maintaining safe practices with children and families.

I discovered that the WACs are thorough in explaining in themselves each aspect, making the information easier to understand and access. The handbook, though harder to navigate unless you know the page number, made it even easier to understand as well. Each WAC is in place to ensure a perfect environment for learning and growth and are a guide for teachers, staying positive in explaining rather than saying what not to do but what you should do. I wasn’t surprised but rather glad and impressed by the details in each, though they were a lot to read. I know I can use them as a tool everyday to answer my own questions and help guide my day.

What I discovered about the WACs is there are many rules set in place for the safety of children, parents, staff, and everyone involved in child care. I was not surprised with any of the WACs because it is to keep everything and everyone organized and up to date on licenses and regulations to maintain a safe facility and environment. The WAC will influence my day to day practice in children because I will be aware of any allergies or health issues they may have and I will be prepared in an emergency.

I discovered that all of the WACs implemented are necessary and I’m relieved to learn these kinds of policies exist. WACs will impact your day-to-day by mandating requirements/licensing before caring for children from birth to 12 years old, by ensuring there are state approved equipment such as cribs and playpens needed to operate a business, the proper ways to handle foods, the sanitation of the changing area, etc. These practices are fundamental to the safety of the children in your care.

I can absolutely see how the WAC will influence my daily practice in caring for children. It governs everything we do, the spaces we use, safety measures in all situations, food and nutrition guidelines, diapering/bathroom/sanitation guidelines, it ensures emergency plans are in place, that staff are highly trained, and that children get the positive care they need to grow into healthy humans. The WAC exists to ensure high quality care at all times.

I can understand how they will be a guide for my day-to-day life in my preschool classroom. I also realize that many of the WACs are common sense and are there for not only the children’s safety but for the safety of staff and care providers. I was a little shocked to see how many things needed to be posted out in the open for families to see. I was also surprised at what in the facility/program needed to have records and how long the records needed to be kept, such as attendance records.

The WAC contained a lot of useful information for me. I learned a lot about licensing specifications, standards for us as instructors of Early Learning and Childcare. I learned that active supervision is critically important, as it can make a huge difference for the safety of the children in the class. I will use that in my day to day activities as I care for children, being hyper aware of their surroundings and being prepared to help a child through whatever will happen during the day. One WAC that surprised me was 110-300-0460 because it clarified it only takes twelve credits to complete an ECE or Early Childhood Education initial Certificate, which can be used as an entry point for a career in Childcare. The WACs contain all the information you need to stay updated on the laws and guidelines for Early Learning and Childcare. In conclusion, I enjoyed learning about WACs and I will refer back to them when if I am confused about what I need to learn next.

I discovered that there are many rules regarding licensing, certifications, qualifications and requirements when working in childcare. I actually was not really surprised by any of the WACs. Even though I’ve never read any WACs, in general, before starting work in childcare, I still understood that the bottom line is to keep children safe. I do see how my day-to-day will be influenced by the WACs. As I said before, the WACs that I read essentially boil down to children’s safety and how those who care and interact with children must provide a safe, caring and encouraging environment as they continue to grow and learn.

I learned the importance of WAC’S it is important to understand each license presented especially when working with children. I learned each aspect required by the state in the guidebook and understood the importance of each license required by the state, to me its very important to be aware the requirements needed to be a teacher assistant/teacher especially when working in the early childhood development stage.

I was not surprised by the WACs, they are very clear and detailed. This clarity provides me piece of mind that all the bases are covered, as it were, and makes me confident that if I have any question about what my duties and responsibilities are as a staff member in a childcare facility, I can find the answers. The WACs will affect my day-to-day actions by keeping in mind that all aspects of daily care of each child should be documented for full disclosure. This includes the hygiene, nutrition and mental stimulation of the children within the facility and working in cooperation with parents’ efforts at home.

Most of these concepts I’m familiar with but there were a few about the behind-the-scenes logging/communication requirements that were new to me. None of these were surprising per say but I’m glad to have read up on the details of them. There were many WACs that will influence how we care and interact with children day to day (not all of them included on the worksheet). One that I found very important was the emphasis on consistent care, outlined in WAC 110-300-0495. I shared how consistent caregiving is beneficial for a child’s social and emotional development. Having consistent rules and routines will create necessary structure in their life.

As I read through the WAC for the worksheet I learned that the WAC is very thorough and important. Helps imform a person if they need guideance. Most importsnly is the childs saftey. Also outlines a good way a classroom should be ran. All my answers and guidance are all in the WAC for easy training or reshreshing the brain.
