1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? That there is a lot of requirements by Washington State for WAC. I am glad to see all of these requirements are needed to be complient with the state of washington because I am glad that it forces everyone to take proper care of children.
2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I wasn’t surprised by any of the requirements. But I did not no before that we could store frozen breast milk and I am glad I know now.
3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes it keeps people everywhere constantly striving for greatness. These requirements keep children, families and earl childhood educators safe and healthy.

1.I am new to Washington so I Discovered that there are a lot of requirements I need order to work in child care compared to other place I have lived

2.There was not any that really surprised me at all but there were a few that had information that sounded really interesting to me.

1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I learned that there was more requirements than I realized that I needed to follow in order to be compliant with Washington State Standards.
2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? Not really, it’s similar to the standards I had to learn about for my teaching certificate, but it just goes over early childhood child care.

The WACs are there to influence, how you conduct yourself around the kids, and how to interact with co-workers, families, and the institution itself. It’s a guide so you can adhere to the standards to provide the kids with the best care possible.

1. I discovered that although the wac codes are vast and detailed it’s clearly for a reason and that the codes are easily accessible
2. I was surprised at how many different circumstances for each situation there could be.
3. Using the wac in my daily routine is very much something I will be doing to stay on top of my learning while also keeping the learning progress and safety of each child in my care.

I was impressed by the inclusive language used in the WACs. I was also surprised to know that getting an ECE certificate within five years of being hired was a requirement for assistant teachers, though I suppose it does make sense.

1. I was familiar with most of the wacs having recently reviewed them for other trainings and schoolwork, but i always apppreciate how detailed they are and how they cover all bases to ensure the safety or children.

2. i wasnt particularly surprised by any but was reminded of some important safety things that made me look around my home and realize how many things wouldnty be compliant or safe is i were to run a daycare out of my home, such as blind strings, having wardrobes secured to walls, etc.

3. I definitely wil be mroe aware of certain safety issues than i wouldve been otherwise, as many things that may strike someone as harmless are not compliant with the code so its important to rely on the code to make sure everything is safe for children within the classroom.

I learned about how important it is to stay organized and make sure to read through the WAC’s to properly enact them with the children.

Most of the WAC’s made sense to me I was a little surprised about how long you have to keep records of children and logs. Also how quickly those have to be retrieved and what kinds of forms have to be on hand.

I will use all the information I have learned in these WAC’s to fulfill my job. I think some of the information won’t be used everyday but it was all important to my job and future. I think the step by step processes helped the most. Along with outlining the types of training I should go through in the future.

1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?

While searching through the early learning WACs, I realized just how many regulations there really are! At the same time, it made me feel proud of all the hard work that is completed by early care providers in order to comply with these state-mandated codes. And while there are far more WACs than I could have imagined, I am glad they are there in order to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved in early childhood care.

2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?

I was plenty surprised when browsing through the WACs and completing the handout. The handout was really helpful because it allowed me to really reflect on what each specific WAC was about. I found it really helpful that the handout was organized into copying the WAC wording but then having me define it in my own words. That helped me to decipher its meaning better and to learn it. All of the WACs I read through surprised me with how in-depth the regulations are and how specific they can be.

3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?

Of course! I can definitely see how the WACs will influence my everyday practice of caring for young children. Even when not in a center, at home or with family, with any child around me! The regulations are stipulated to keep ourselves and the children under our care safe and stimulate their learning and growth.
