I learned that there are more WAC’s than I expected. I found most of the WAC’s reasonable and understandable considering the field and was not too surprised by any of them. I can see how the WAC’s will influence my day to day interactions with the children because they are an outline for how I should interact with the kids.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I learned that in-home child education providers can be licensed and must be in certain situations. I always wondered about people who provided care from their own homes. Even certain summer programs or short-term childcare programs need to be licensed.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? Not from the ones I was able to study. The WAC’s cover a wide variety of situations that a director or supervisor may find themselves in. It is nice to have a ‘game plan’ to refer to.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes! The purpose of the WAC requirements is to keep childcare safe and beneficial. Children are not able to advocate for themselves, especially young children, so it is nice there is a way of holding caretakers accountable. Little things like how your classroom is set up, or what materials you provide students plays a large role in quality care.

There are a lot of requirements for teachers to be aware of to be align with WAC requirements. I felt that most requirements were common sense. I learned a lot about sleep and eating habits that are good to be aware of.

    1. I discovered that the state of Washington requires a lot of trainings be completed as well as continued trainings while being employed by an early learning program.

    2. I was not surprised by any of the WACs as they all make sense that a licensed program should follow in order to keep the children, families, and staff safe while involved with the early learning program.

    3. Yes, I can see how they all can influence my day to day within the early learning program because it’s important to keep everyone involved with the early learning program safe.

    1. I discovered that every single foundational quality standard for early learning programs is very important to follow to make sure that all children have equitable
access to services that are high-quality, safe and healthy by promoting an adequate supply
of care, ensuring our rules reflect best practices in health and safety and supporting the providers
    as professionals.

    2. I wasn’t surprised by any of the WACs because I think they are all important and if I was a parent I would appreciate the extent that each of them go to.

    3. Yes because you have to follow specific instructions and guidelines and if you don’t serious consequences can happen. I think that it can influence my day to day practice with the children when dealing with some children that have trouble being nice to their friends or teachers because you have to be very careful in what you say and do to help the child.

Physical restraint must only be used if a child’s

Physical restraint must only be used if a child’s
safety or the safety of others is threatened … This WAC didn’t surprise me just did not know that this was allowed. But I am glad that physically restraining a child is an okay thing to do if the safety of others is at stake and the policy procedures for this are taken.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?

I think that there are a lot of requirements needed that I did not know about. The more and more I read about them the more I can use them to help in my classroom is ways of keeping children safe when they are doing unsafe things. Like when a child is truly being unsafe to themselves or others that we can physically restrain a child, which makes sense but I did not know it was allow. We. Have some children that, when upset are a harm to themselves and others and have had a hard time knowing what we can do to keep everyone safe

I learned that there are a lot of requirement we need to enforce for each center to be the best it can be

<strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;”>I was more surprised about how most rules in day cares come directly from the wac

<strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;”>Yes i see that because there are rules that align with our day to day activities we do with the children.

    1. I discovered all the rules and regulations to be able to work in a childhood establishment, what records need to be noted and stored. The qualifications needed for specific childcare establishments and positions within the establishment (director, teacher, aide, etc.).

    2. I was not surprised by any of the WACs, I knew most of them.

    3. I can see how the WACs will influence my day-to-day practice by properly caring for the children and documenting what is needed.
