2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I was surprised that you can use physical restraints under the circumstances that the child’s or other children’s safety are at risk. I was unaware you could use physical restraints AT ALL on a child.

3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? I see ho well the WACs can affect day to day lifestyle in caring for children. The rules and guidelines set up are set in place to ensure the protection of kids through cleanliness, safety, and organization to assist in child development.

1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I discovered that WAC is quite specific and adapts for the day to day.
2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I wasn’t very surprised by any specific WAC, but I did find it surprising how many there actually were, but I was surprised at how many I knew so well and had down.
3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? WACs are so specific that with each day you can apply any of them for any certain type of activity or event that occurs during the day. This is also really great because it gives you an understanding for things you may not know has an answer.

The WAC’s are very complete in covering every aspect of having and or being in a childcare facility and the important responsibilities of the director and the entire staff of a facility to ensure the absolute utmost care of every child in their care.

I was not surprised that the WAC’s licensing practice says it is only under certain circumstances that a provider of care may restrain a child for their own safety as well as the safety of the other children in the facility. I have previously worked in a facility with at risk children where it was necessary on occasion and done appropriately under the guidance of the director.

The WAC’s guidelines and implementation is very instrumental and necessary for the smooth running of a facility and the safety and well being and growth of a child in the facility.

There are many different ins and outs of all the laws that must be followed. I am glad there is a manual we can refer to, since we are expected to adhere to 500+ rules.

1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I discovered that the WACs cover many topics in extensive detail, which are necessary to properly follow along with Washington State licensing rules.
2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? For the most part, I was not surprised by many of the WACs as they were topics that I expected to see. However, I was surprised to see a section covering pets and animals, but it does make sense to have procedures on how to ensure safety procedures with pets and animals in an early learning program.
3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? I can most definitely see how WACs will influence my day-to-day practice in caring for children. There are many more WACs than I initially anticipated, but they are all helpful for ensuring the early learning program I am in is following procedures to remain a safe and healthy environment for both children and others involved.

1. Some stuff I discovered is that most of the rules are to help you, staff, and the children all stay safe within daily basis if everyone follows rules and state regulations.

2. I was not surprised by the rules, they all make sense to help protect everyone.

3. I can see how WAC influences your day to day, every child is different and so is the staff and you make changes daily to help every person as they change weather it’s a child with new allergies or staff needing changes for their own health.

I have learned that there are a lot of requirements that need to be followed in order to be compliant with the standards for Washington state.

1. What I discovered is that the WACs are really detailed and requirement heavy, when reading it it feels a little bit overwhelming with all the information you’re reading and trying to grasp, but its important to take your time to understand them because its standards that the state of Washington needs you to follow.

2. The WAC about the expulsion policy caught me a little of guard because if I think about working at a daycare that ranges with babies to toddlers I can’t think of why they would get expelled unless its something extremely serious but I don’t see how they would have to behave for it to get to that point.

3.Yes, because again its Washington standards we have to follow, so if we ever feel uncertain about something we have the WACs to help guide us in becoming better skilled child care workers.

While completing the WACs I realized WACs guide is so in depth in explaining each and every part, an individual need to know about the entire process and standards of a childcare systems, and how it works.

Nothing much surprised alot while completing WACs ,only one thing in WACs 110 300 0490 (Child Restraint Order), where a child can be restraint if its absolutely necessary like if needs to be done the child’s or somebody’s safety.It was a new thing I learned from WACs.

WACs will play a huge role in clearly understanding specifically each part of a childcare program and how to correctly manage a situation in a childcare facility. WACs is super helpful resource to understand all the kinds of scenarios that can happen in a childcare facility and also has the solution to it.
