MemberJuly 2, 2024 at 9:03 pm- What I got to know when I Started reading about WAC is that they are well organized and when I read it I can easily understand their rules and regulations. I think this is great because they covered too many things which are needed to be considered while taking care of the children. It shows that how much they consider things when it comes in while taking care of the children.
- I was surprised with how they think about the families and they have different requirements for lead teacher and assistant teachers.
- I do see how WAC influences day to day activities in the daycare because whenever I want to do any activities and have think about child safely and age requirement and I always have a place where I can search anything related to kids is a big help for the teacher.

There are a lot of regulations that we all have to be familiar with. At first it looks like a lot of work and may seem stressful to comply. But once working with kids and being familiar with the WAC, it will be easier to continue to meet the regulations of the WACs. - Were you surprised by any of the WACs?
The WAC I was more suprised with was the safe sleep. In my culture and while raising my children I have always coslept and used blankets while they sleep. But it was good to be informed of the regulations and the save sleep practices. - Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?
yes, the WACs will influence my day to day because I can see myself taking them back with me to my home and how I am with my children.

MemberJuly 2, 2024 at 10:46 pmI realised that there are a lot of guidelines to keep in mind that can be easily referred to.
I was surprised by the extent of the clarifications involved in record keeping and facility maintenance/cleaning/safety checks.
I am uncertain about how frequently I will be using this information, as for my position a lot of this is stuff I don’t need to know. The main points will be in my head, and as I am learning this position the guidebook will be a great help for me to clarify any concerns I may have.

I thought that the WACs were extremely thorough. After taking the time to read through them, I was able to get an in-depth and clear idea of the information listed. They laid it all out, quite simply, making it easy for any reader to follow along.
The only WAC that was slightly surprising to me would be the one on child restraint. I think I was a little confused on the concept of whether or not it is considered restraint if you were to be picking up a child to avoid a dangerous situation. I think it is an excellent requirement and I also loved the part where it said if a provider feels they are not helping the situation that they can remove themselves if another provider is available to take over.
Most definitely! They were extremely clear in all the requirements and standards necessary to provide the upmost care for the children within the program.

MemberJuly 4, 2024 at 7:01 am- I learned that there are a lot of requirements that need to be followed in order to be compliant with the standards for Washington state.
- WAC 110-300-0335 (1)
Physical restraint must only be used if a child’s
safety or the safety of others is threatened. Working in an elementary school, you would have to be trained in order to be able to physically restrain a student if they are causing harm to themselves or others. - I can see how these WACs influence the on going day structure. There are steps in place for you to follow and stay in accordance to keep staff, children, self, safe, healthy, and learning in a positive environment.

- Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? As I move toward administration of ECE community, it is helpful to be reminded of needs for record keeping and posted information etc.

- Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes, I can see how WACs will influence my day-to-day practice because now i will take into consideration every standard that the WACs has.

As I was reading through the WACs, it was very in depth. I worked in an early education center before, so I forgot how much training is required in general. While it can be a long process, I understand why the trainings are necessary to proceed to work in this field. It is also quite a benefit to have to renew the trainings from time to time to display consistency.

MemberJuly 9, 2024 at 8:41 pm- What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I learned how thorough these policies are in helping providers know how to ensure staff are properly trained, records are properly kept, and how important information is communicated throughout the building.
- Were you surprised by any of the WACs? Toddlers are defined as 12-29 months and must be allowed to follow their own sleep patterns (per safe sleep guidance), though many programs offer a one-nap schedule for that age group.
- Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? WACs ensure I have vital safety information (like allergies and emergency contacts) at hand while caring for children, and ensure that I have or will get the training I need to do my job well.

MemberJuly 9, 2024 at 9:36 pm1. The WACs are very detailed. It is a lot of information to have, but once established, the upkeep seems to be minimal. I think the initial licensure is the most difficult part.
2. I didn’t see anything in the WACs that was surprising.
3. I can see how the WACs influence the daily care of children. They’re foundational for setting up and maintaining a healthy environment and set clear expectations for caregivers and families.

- What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? They are very detailed with a lot of necessary detail.
- Were you surprised by any of the WACs? No. The ones I read where obviously written to avoid loopholes and lessen confusion.
- Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? In some ways yes. Remembering the WAC’s related to the classroom for instance would be something to refer back to daily, but the ones specifically for licensing wouldn’t always pertain to day to day.
