    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? There are so many regulations that I hadn’t even thought about.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? The one about physical restraint surprised me. I was told about that one in my initial trainings with my employer.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? I am happy I am more informed about the various conduct codes because it will make working a little bit easier, especially if there is a situation that I am not quite sure how to handle.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?

<div>I discover quite a lot doing this activity. I knew there were rules and regulations but I’m actually glad that there are. Being a parent with children in Early Childhood education and being in this side gives me a lot more confidence within what’s being offered. And as a teacher, it’s allowing me to know that all of my children are protected and the state is holding that to a high standard. </div>

    1. Were you surprised by any of the WACs
    2. I was surprised by quite a few but I also wasn’t at the same time. The center I work for currently had to close down for a while due to some licensing issues and knowing that the state holds us to a certain standard is nice.

    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?
    4. These impact me daily and I’m glad they do. Each provider is set forth to nurture children in every way, shape, and form and the licensing requirements just hold us to a higher standard.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?

I discovered that there are a lot more WACs then I realized. There are WACs for just about each and every situation you could encounter and they are each particular in how they are to be handled.

    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?

I was surprised by how detailed the WACs were. Navigating through them was difficult at first because not only are there tons to dig through, but understanding the particular wording of some of them was challenging.

    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?

I can definitely see how they will influence my day to day practices because there are protocols for everything. Each day is a new experience and the WACs are there to guide us through how to handle them.

I learned that both lead and assistant teachers will have training regarding WAC 110-300-0335 (1)
Physical restraint must only be used if a child’s
safety or the safety of others is threatened. I appreciate that childcare center teachers are required to complete the Child Care Basics course within the first 3 months of hire.

1.) i learned there are a lot of requirements and regulations that are needed to be licensed and stay licensed as an in home child care provider.

2.) records needed to be kept for 12 months somewhere internally in the child care center.

3.) i can see how the WACS will influence my day- to day. you need to know them and if there is a situation happening where you aren’t sure what to do you will need to able to find them and reference them for what to do.

The WACs is Comprehensive Guidelines. These cover a broad range of topics, including child-to-staff ratios, health and safety standards, physical environment requirements, and staff qualifications.

I’m surprised by the depth of detail provided in the WACs, such as the exact ratios of caregivers to children in different age groups, specific requirements for daily schedules, or the precise way that health records and emergency plans should be maintained.

The WACs help establish structured routines for children, focus on Safety: The guidelines around child-to-staff ratios, health and safety procedures (such as emergency drills), and physical safety (like keeping dangerous objects out of reach). The WACs emphasize the importance of appropriate staff training in areas such as child development, behavior management, and communication skills.

    1. I discovered that there are rules and regulations when it comes to the environment of children.

    2. I wasn’t surprised everything seems to make sense, except that there are developmental screening that are encouraged as well as family support.

3.I can definitely see how the WACs influences childcare workers since they set the standards for training and education.

What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?

There was an abundance of regulations and good information that touched every aspect of early learning centers. There is a lot of emphasis on the qualifications of caregivers, including required background checks, necessary training in child development, and ongoing training. This helps ensure that children are cared for by professionals who understand their needs.

Were you surprised by any of the WACs?

That there are WACs that even tell what should be posted on the walls of the facility. There are detailed regulations on things like classroom temperature, space requirements, and even the number of toys or books a classroom should have.

Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?

Yes, health and safety protocols, which include everything from proper sanitation and hygiene practices to ensuring safe environments, each day, ensuring that health and safety standards are met will be a core part of daily activities, such as sanitizing toys, ensuring the safety of play areas, and following proper procedures for diapering and handwashing. Staffing Ratios: where you must be aware of how many teachers are in the room as the quantity of kids increase or decrease.

    1. I learned that there are different trainings we are required to take each year as we progress in our early education professional careers.

    2. I was surprised that children must have developmental screenings and that we must inform parents about the importance of them.

    3. Yes, I can see the importance of the little rules and how they all add up to create a truly safe and nurturing environment where kids can grow and thrive!
