I discovered the need for consistency between early learning centers and home care centers are extremely necessary in providing the best care for the children we serve.

I was not really surprised about any of the WACS but more appreciative by how all of these rules and documentations needed are there to keep your children safe within the center, no matter which one you go to, is universal between centers.

These wacs are implemented in your daily experience to make sure everything you do and see is documented to make sure the safety of your children is right there on paper. There is a universal need to have documentation between the state, the parents and the center.

Yes, the Washington Administrative Codes (WACs) will influence my day-to-day practice in caring for children because they provide a set of guidelines and regulations that ensure safety, well-being, and development for children in various settings.

1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I learned that these are a set of rules and regulations that are crucial to childcare centers across Washington State.
2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? No, I was not surprised by any of the WACs. There are specific rules like the temperature in classrooms that are very specific that I didn’t fully know before but other than that, I have been aware of all the other rules, so I didn’t see them as a surprise.

I can see how they’ll influence a day-to-day practice in caring for children because the children must be in certain environments where they’ll be able to learn. Staff to child ratios, postings on walls for emergencies, and temperature requirements are all specific to a child’s learning.

While completing the WAC activity I discovered the WACs themselves to be very instructive when looking to create a business. I also discovered how much planning and intention is dedicated to establishing child care faculties that are sustain the needs of children. I learned rules like posting regulations, I had no idea existed.

When reading the WAC’s I was surprised at the extensive amount of records that are required to be accessible, and kept on record. Although I had expected their to be a requirement to store records, it surprised me to learn the longevity which they are stored, and abundance of them.

The WACs influence obligation and professionalism. Reading the WAC’s gave me insight into the responsibility of maintaining a Children’s Care Center of any kind. It also seems that because the WACs are so pronounced, there is less room for error and negligence. Establishing a dedicated guide, there is less of an opportunity for injustice, as anyone subject to abuse can reference those which have been violated.

2. Not really. They seemed pretty straight forward and normal to me. Though records are to be kept for a surprisingly long time under WAC 110-300-0465

1,wacs is pretty much very detailed within what you should know. Regulations / guidebook are so precise and detailed very extensive .

2. Not exactly such as, it’s pretty much a lot of good knowledge and requirements of what you as a childcare professional should be familiarize with and just general things to be aware to reference back if needed .

3. Yes, it’s helping you out by giving information regarding work place safety; childcare practices but overall a guide to ensure a quality and consistency

1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? WACs have a lot more information than what I had originally thought they’d have before reading them in depth.
2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? WAC 110-300-0135 made me realize so much is observed and done like how the furniture must be arranged and how it is inspected often for breaks and possible dangers.

I can see how the WACs will influence my day-to-day child care practice, there are so many rules to follow and guide lines to make sure all is safe in the environment of the childcare facility and the relationships with the children as well as the parents and peers.

1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I discovered that in regards to the WACs, there are very specific rules for each section of the WACs. There are a lot of requirements that I was not aware of, and should begin to gain knowledge more of.
2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? In all honesty, I was not surprised with any of the WACs due to the reason that as an individual working in child care, it is imperative to be careful and understand all the rules and regulations that comes with working in a child care.

While working on the activity, I saw just how detailed the WACs are when it comes to what’s expected of licensed child care programs. They cover so many areas, like safety rules, ratios, staff requirements, and even things like how the facility should be set up. It’s clear they’re designed to keep kids safe and make sure programs meet a certain quality standard.

Some of the WACs definitely surprised me! I didn’t realize how specific they could be about things like playground safety or even where sinks need to be placed. It made me realize there’s a lot of thought and planning behind the rules to make sure everything is just right for kids and staff.

The WACs are a big part of the day-to-day work in child care. They guide how we do almost everything, like supervising kids, setting up the space, and working with families. It can feel like a lot to keep up with, but they make sure the program runs smoothly and safely. It’s a way to keep things consistent and help build trust with families!
