    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?: I discovered that while some of the WAC are for licensing and making sure each worker is up to code and allowed to work with children, others are about the interaction between the teacher and the student to better their education.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?: WAC 110-300-0100 is in regards to requirements to become a teacher in early childcare development. I was surprised that besides childcare certificates, all that’s really needed is a high school diploma when it comes to education requirements. I expected a BA was needed.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?: WAC’s set strict rules for how teachers are supposed to interact with kids inside a class room, which affects how lesson plans are written.

What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? <div>

I found the WACs to be very indepth and informative. The are very specific to anything and everything that could happen. I honestly found them a little overwhelming.

Were you surprised by any of the WACs?

I can see why a lot of these WACs are in place, but what i found surprised was just how detailed the are. Just because there were a lot of things that I never took into consideration before looking through them.

<div>Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? </div></div>

I can see how the WACs will influence my day to day activities because a lot of activities that I come up with have these little things that I perceive as normal, but could a c tually do a lot more harm. I will definitely be looking at these moving forward in order to make sure I follow them.

I discovered that the WACs are essential for maintaining excellence in the work place. One of the biggest realizations is that there is a TON of infomation about them through that activity, reading through the sections really took some time.

I wasn’t surprised by any of them in particular.

I think they keep employees honest with themselves about the type of education and effort they toward poroviding positive outcomes for all students.

The WACs are comprehensive and detailed, providing clear guidance on licensing requirements, health and safety standards, staff qualifications, and curriculum expectations. I discovered how these codes aim to ensure a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children.

    • The WACs are comprehensive and detailed, providing clear guidance on licensing requirements, health and safety standards, staff qualifications, and curriculum expectations. I discovered how these codes aim to ensure a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children.

    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?

    • No, because some of the requirements are necessary. For example, the detailed mandates for staff training, including timelines for completing certain certifications like CPR and First Aid are very crucial for learning centers and child care staff.

    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?

    • Absolutely. The WACs set the framework for all aspects of daily operations, from maintaining a clean and safe environment to ensuring staff are adequately trained and ratios are met.

    1. I learned that there are rigorous protocols for even little things in early childhood centers. I also learned about the different time frames in which employees should get certain certifications.

    2. WAC 110-300-0140 surprised me, where children must have their own storage (and families’ belongings can no longer be stored together). I’m surprised because there’s not the same allowance for teachers.

    3. I can definitely see how the specificity of the WACs will guide my work and my to-do list/timeline for my professional development. I can also see how my program follows the codes.

    • I discovered that at least one staff person has to have a current first-aid and CPR certificate to present with each group of children at all times while completing the WACs while activity. I wasn’t really surprised by anything but I didn’t know that the WAC could be so detailed and in-depth. I can see how the WACs will influence my day-to-day practice in caring for children. Around children anything can happen so a lot of these WACs will probably come into play regarding certain incidents with children.

While completing the activity, I discovered that the WACs (Washington Administrative Codes) are a detailed set of regulations designed to ensure the safety, well-being, and quality of care for children in early learning environments. The WACs cover a wide range of topics, including staff qualifications, child supervision, health and safety protocols, and parent communication, among others.

Some aspects of the WACs might be surprising, particularly the level of detail and the specific requirements for staff training, background checks, and child-to-staff ratios. These regulations may be more stringent than some might initially expect, but they are designed to create a high standard of care and a safe environment for children.

Additionally, staying up to date with health and safety regulations, such as sanitation practices and emergency procedures, will be essential in daily operations. These guidelines provide a framework for creating a structured, safe, and supportive environment for children.

    1. What I discovered about the WAC is that in general it is about the safety or children, as well as development, and training.it was very clear and easy to understand as well.

    2. I was surprised by WAC 110-300-0335 which addresses the use of physical restraint in early learning environments. This was surprising because it seems controversial.

    3. The influence the WAC has on day to-day practice is that it requires training and record keeping to meet the needs of the children.
