    1. What I discovered about the WAC is that in general it is about the safety or children, as well as development, and training.it was very clear and easy to understand as well.

    2. I was surprised by WAC 110-300-0335 which addresses the use of physical restraint in early learning environments. This was surprising because it seems controversial.

    3. The influence the WAC has on day to-day practice is that it requires training and record keeping to meet the needs of the children.

I discovered that the WACs provide clear guidelines on safety, child development, and program management to ensure a high standard of care.

Were you surprised by any of the WACs?
I wasn’t surprised, but I was reminded of the extensive rules that cover every aspect of child care to ensure safety and quality.

Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?
Yes, the WACs will influence my practice because they set clear expectations for safety, health, and child development, guiding me in creating a structured and supportive environment for the children.

The WAC is extremely thorough so you know exactly what is expected. I was not surprised by anything other then how thorough it is. The WACs should influence anyone’s day who works with children. There are set guidelines for a reason that should be followed and maintained.

    1. I learned there were a lot more licensing and regulations than I thought when it came to childcare.

    2. I was surprised about the requirements for each job title. For example, how the lead teacher had to have so many credits, and the assistant teacher did as well. It all makes sense, I just did not know of all the rules.

    3. These rules will definitely influence my day-to-day life because I will keep them in my mind while working with the kids, and seeing how the rules come to life when working with them.

I discovered that WAC thought of every situation while dealing with children and was to do in those situations.

    1. I discovered that WAC has taken lots of research and noticed about situations which can come while working with kids and has dealt with minute details of everyday circumstances while dealing with children.

2.I was surprised by WAC rule that it give one month time duration to a center to complete their formalities and get license if they haven’t got their license before opening the center.

3.yes, all the guidelines given by WAC in each situation will help to work with children in a standard n safe manner.

    1. There are many guidelines and rules to follow and that need to be taken into action.

    2. I wasn’t really that surprised, but something that caught my attention was how detailed everything was and explained.

    3. Yes I can because these are what would make providing care for the kids better and how it should be done.

    1) I discovered that the WACs are extremely thorough in explaining what is required of early childhood educators. I appreciate how they approach every aspect of teaching from a child’s environment to interactions and curriculum.

    2) I was pleasantly surprised that one of the ways daycare providers can support breastfeeding mothers is by providing a place for them to pump and prepare breastmilk in the facility.

    3) I can absolutely see how the WACs will impact my day-to-day actions while caring for children. Because I’ll be working with children ages 4-9 months, it’s nice to know that I have the WACs to refer to if I ever need help or reminders on how to best care for infants. The thoroughness of the WAC will be especially helpful for future reference.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?

The WACs are laid out with detail and there are more requirements that a facility has to follow in order for them to be in proper condition.

    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?

I was surprised by a few WACs especially the the WAC regarding restraint as I didn’t know there was restraint training and that we could restrain children if necessary.

    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?

I can see how WACs will influence the day-to-day since you have to adjust your day and policies to align with the WACs in order to stay in compliance with them.

I learned out thorough and comprehensive (and also a bit cumbersome) it all is

I learned that they have covered everything, even the type of refrigerator the space can have

I think the WACs have heavy influence on the day to day – understanding that everything has a reason and that rules and guidelines are there to protect everyone and must be remembered and followed.

The WA WAC is very detailed yet somewhat confusing in some applications. There is alot of data to process. I was quite surprised that taping a child’s nose or mouth needed to even be mentioned when it came to prohibited behavior/discipline. The idea someone would do some of these things is horrendous. The WAC code covers alot across the entire state. I absolutely can understand how it will define the day to day operations

    1) I didn’t really discover much about the WAC’s during this activity just because I’ve read them many times before just now.

    2) I Was not surprised by any of the WAC as stated above I’ve been over them many times before now. But also because they all seem to be pretty standard topics and procedures that one should have to follow.

    3) I can see how ALL the WAC’s affect my day-to-day as a child care provider not just the ones we went over but all of them. With each one that is required it helps give you a timeline and build a daily schedule to make sure that you are following and meeting all the requirements. And if you don’t you can get into trouble, also known as another form of accountability.

#1- Honestly? I got a bit lost while trying to look through them. I got stuck on looking for the questions the handout said each WAC had but as I was reading through them, I realize just how in depth they are. There is a lot of time and consideration that goes into each WAC and that’s because they’re in place to make sure we put the health and safety of the children as priority. It also ensures that the children are being taken care of by licensed professionals.

#2- Not really. I’ve worked with children in the past so most of it just broadened what I already knew and gave a different outlook on what is needed to know.

#3- Yes. Like I said, there is so much time and consideration that goes into taking care of children and furthering their needs. These WACs will ensure we can give them the things they need to learn and give them better opportunities to succeed, etc.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity?

There was a lot more information than I anticipated. they were very in-depth and it was hard to find the actual WACs in the Foundational quality standards for early learning programs and I found them easier in the licensing guide book.

    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs?

The amount of information they provide for the codes was so surprising. Everything is so specific which is a good thing and as someone learning this for the first time and aiming to have a career in early education I’m happy to know theres this much to information on how to operate in this field. It gives me a sense of security that there’s practically no unknowns and there’s always an answer so anyone can be prepared to preform in the best way possible in any early learning facility.

    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not?

Absolutely the WACs will influence my practice in caring for children. they will be the rules to follow and refer back to to keep the children safe and learning in the most effective way. I think they are definitely set into place for a reason ans there should be no reason why an individual cant follow them.

While completing the activity, I learned that the WACs provide important rules to ensure children’s safety, health, and well-being.

Some rules, like staff training and child-to-staff ratios, were expected, but others, like keeping accurate records, were more detailed than I thought.

The WACs will definitely impact my daily work by guiding how I care for children, keep them safe, and create a positive learning environment. They help ensure that everything is done properly and according to the rules.
