It can be helpful. I think what matters most is content and having quality in the what is being shown. It should be seen as a tool, like money or toys, and utilized appropriately to the setting.

My opinion in childcare screen time should be limited as much as at home, but from my point of view being a mom of 3 I think screen time at home is okay as long as its learning or dancing a long, while im doing some house chores. It helps a lot.

I do not believe in screen time for any child under the age of 6. Not only does it affect their ability to focus, the strain it puts physically on their eyes and sleep schedule disruption isn’t worth it. I limit my own personal screen time and would do the same for my own children.

I think there are a lot of cons to screen time but there can be a few positives as well. I think that for the most part screen time should not be a part of childcare, however I think there are a few exceptions. Things like watching age appropriate movies, playing age appropriate educational or team building games could have some benefits.

I think screen time is an unnecessary part of a curriculum and the amount of time a child spends in front of a screen should be decided by their parent who is hopefully well informed on the impacts of too much screen time.

I think screen time is not needed for children in child care. For sure they will have screen time at home, when they are in child care encourage kids to do some activities and make connections with the other children.

it requires balance. for instance: in moderation, supervised and purposeful use, parental involvement and communication

Providers can help by not using screens at child care, saving the daily hour for home.

Research shows that videos geared towards making babies “smarter” (such as “Baby Einstein”) actually do the opposite and delay intellectual and language development. This is because young children learn by interacting with people and their environments, not by passive watching.

While screen time can be beneficial for education, children who use digital devices excessively or inappropriately in daycare facilities may experience a number of detrimental effects. It’s critical to be conscious of these possible downsides and work toward a well-rounded strategy. The following are some detrimental effects of excessive screen usage in childcare settings. Overindulgence in screens might reduce possibilities for in-person encounters and hence postpone the development of critical social skills.

If screen-based interactions take the place of in-person social encounters, children may struggle with empathy, communication, and dispute resolution.

According to certain research, there may be a connection between excessive screen usage and behavioral disorders including aggressiveness and attention deficit disorder.Behavioral issues may be caused by excessive screen use, exposure to unsuitable information, or addictive behaviors.

I feel very strongly about distance from screeds during child care hours. Already children are away from their parents and in a new setting that they may not understand. Screens can easily overstimulate, but I do not believe they should be put away all together. Screens for us can be used to benefit the child; easily put on music, set a timer or reminder pertaining to the child, create a photo or video, connect with a parent or guardian, remember allergens or important information about the child, and in some cases can even help children who are lesser able to communicate. I believe when you are doing these things especially in a childcare facility, you should not be close to or setting an example of the action of looking at the screen in front of the child. children should not be able to play with or hold screens and should not witness you using them often. When they are old enough for screens, I still don’t believe they should be provided in the childcare setting. That should be up for the parents to decide.

I wasn’t allowed to watch television until I was about ten years old. I thought my parents were crazy hippies, but it seems they were really on it with that one.

i feel like most kids probably are already having screen time at home, so I think it’s best to limit the role of screen time for children of this age. Unless it is truly necessary I think it should be avoided.

I believe screen time should be very limited and should only be educational shows that the provider/teacher can interact with.

i think screen time has changes the way children play now. i have seen children not want to play with other children they rather be watching tv. they have become more aggressive and don’t want to do activities. i think it shouldnt be introduced early maybe around 2 years is ok to start but limited time.
