If I thought something fishy was going on with a kid, I’d definitely speak up. I’d reach out to the police or child protection services pronto and let them know what’s up. It’s all about looking out for the little ones and making sure they’re safe and sound. No kid should have to deal with abuse or neglect, and it’s up to all of us to step in and make sure they get the help they need, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

I would document any kind of evidence I have, check in with my lead to collect our thoughts, and then contact CPS.

First, I would try to talk to talk to the child. Then bring the Child abuse/neglect to my director’s/supervisor’s attention and finally, call/report CPS as I’m considered as the mandated reporter in this situation.

I would make sure I keep details on the observations I made and take it to my supervisor to make sure these are reliable resources and observations to make a report

MemberApril 27, 2024 at 9:04 pmI would ask the child questions about their experience in a gentle way if I though it would clarify my suspicions. Then I would consult with the Lead teacher about their observations. Finally I would follow protocol and report the incident with CPS.

MemberApril 27, 2024 at 11:14 pmThe child always is the first concern. Firstly if you suspected abuse you will need to let your supervisor know. go over wac for proper information before calling child services.

MemberApril 29, 2024 at 11:27 amI would first document the date, time, and description of the injuries and pay close attention for any other signs, I would immediately share my concerns with the lead teacher or supervisor. Then, I would file a CPS report and let them handle it but I would still closely monitor for any other signs of abuse.

MemberApril 30, 2024 at 3:38 amTalk to the child first and then inform my supervisor to see if they have similar concerns or see any new problems. I’d document everything down and contact CPS.
