Si sospechara abuso o negligencia, lo informaría al supervisor, para que me aclare cuál es exactamente la política y para asegurarme de que están en la misma página sobre mis inquietudes. Luego lo informaría al estado de mis preocupaciones.

If I suspected abuse I would inform cps right away sometimes time can be crucial to that child or vulnerable adult. I would also not inform the parents and allow CPS to take over from there. As a mandated reporter I have a duty to say something.

I would stay calm, reassure the child they are safe with me, and support the child before reporting my suspicions to Child Protective Services.

As someone who is young but has been in childcare a few years, my plan is always:
1. make sure the child is not in immediate danger
2. document
3. notify my supervisor and another teacher
4. actively try to protect the child and myself
5. notify law enforcement
6. repeat all steps until appropriate action is taken

I would definitely ask the child what is going on, Alert my director so they can document everything down, and then we can call cps.

MemberMay 27, 2023 at 11:28 pmIf I suspected any form of abuse, then I would document it and inform my supervisor. I would then wait to see what my supervisor has to say and how they would want to handle it. Now If I felt the child was in immediate danger then I would call 9-1-1 right away.

As a mom of three, this is challenging at times in young children, as kids sometimes say things unprovoked and often hurt themselves getting bruises and such. It’s important to remember that reporting is critical even without certainty about what is occurring.

Talk to the child first, record the information, report to the director, then contact CPS.
