Put together a script, but also prepare that live conversation is not a scripted one. So, practice with some friends who have kids and ask them to sit with you and pretend this scenario out so you can better anticipate reactions and how your analysis is received. Then tweak your presentation.

It allows for analysis by the teacher to check on milestones and observe potential red flags or have tangible information to pass along to parents regarding progress. It’s an easy way to keep track of what you’ve seen in the past and expect in the future and then see if those observations hold true or if there is a behavioral pattern there that could use early intervention in the growth of the child.

I think screen time should not be used at a preschool. The studies show its negative impact and its a well researched fact.

Maybe there is an unknown there that is causing the issue that you could help design a solution. My facility has a monetary fee in place for late pickups. But, I think it’s always important to ask what’s going on first and then address the issue with a professional manner.

1. Collaboration with Families; WAC 110-300-0100: focuses on the program’s responsibility
to involve families in the planning and implementation of the early
learning curriculum. It pays special attention to the importance of open communication,
respect for family preferences and/or traditions, and collaboration in the decision-making processes of early childhood education.2. Diversity shows up in WAC 110-300-0150. The law covers the cultural responsiveness and
diversity role of the early learning environment. It outlines the need
for programs to respect and incorporate diverse cultural, linguistic,
and family backgrounds into the curriculum and activities. -
I discovered that the WACs are extremely detailed.
2.) I was shocked just how in-depth the WACs go in dictating the entire operations of an early learning center.
3.) I think it’s extremely helpful to use the WACs as the go to for taking the guess work out of finding the best care practices and also enables me as an educator to be assured I am following the guidelines prescribed.
