Some good ways to approach a parent about the developmental screening of their child is by first working with a co worker to find an effective and calm approach for the discussion, having documentation, and sharing local resources for referral. You must also maintain confidentiality.

observing and documenting a childs development can help early learning providers because it can show if a child is where they should be in their stage of development or if they need more assistance. Each child develops differently and observation can help provide insight on how to better assist their growth and choose activities that tailor to their needs.

I think screen time in childcare should be very limited. There are so many activities available in childcare that screen time seems unnecessary and research shows that screentime can delay development.

An activity that has a serve and return interaction is sharing a toy and taking turns playing with it.

In this instance, I would have a meeting with the parent and first try to get an explanation on the repeated tardiness and see if their is a solution we could work out that would work with the parent and child. I would then let them know that it is their responsibility to pick up their child on time and also explain to them how this could negatively affect their child.

In my opinion, it is possible to change our views but it requires. Experiences, knowledge, and media can have influence in changing perspective.

1. I discovered that the WACs have many regulations and standards and are very thorough. This is my first time learning about the WAC and it was a bit overwhelming but it is also understandable as it is a big responsibility working in child care and early learning.

2. As someone who did not have any previous knowledge about WAC, all of it was pretty surprising. Going into child care, I knew I would have to follow rules and regulations but seeing just how many WACs there actually are was a shock.

3. I can see how the WACs can influence my day-to-day practice because they are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
