Ask the children what they would like to do that day and create the schedule with the children with the activities that they would like to do, snack time, and nap time. Make it fun for the children. I would make a wheel.

First i would prepare myself by writing down what i would like to say to the parent, and practice with a coworker and have them give me responses that the parent might give. Then when i see the parent ask to speak to them privately and tell them that you would like to have a developmental screening for their child. I would provide documents that brought me to the conclusion of a developmental screening and talk to the parent about what the best options for the child would be.

  • Observing and documenting a child’s development help early learning providers because all children develop at their own pace and we can write down when the child hits the milestones. It can help them understand where the child is at developmentally and how they can help the child.

I think screen time for children older than 2 is fine as long as it is educational and is monitored by the teachers. I think between 30 minutes to an hour is an appropriate amount of screen time.

I think early learning providers can create a serve and return environment in their classroom by having a fun activity such as finger painting or music time.

The first thing i would do is remind Mrs.Hopkins that this was the third time in 2 weeks she was late to pick up her child, i would ask her if everything was okay at home or work. I would remind her that arriving to pick up her child is very important not just to the staff, but to her child as well. Her child now waits for his mother to pick him up at this time now instead of the arranged time and he watches the other children leave at the arranged time. I would ask her if she wanted to schedule a different pick up time so she is on time and her son isn’t waiting for her.

WAC 110-300-0160 States that an early learning provider must provide culturally and racially diverse learning opportunities. Diverse learning opportunities must be demonstrated by the provider’s curriculum, activities, and materials that represent all children, families, and staff. A provider must use equipment and materials that include, but are not limited to diverse dolls, books, pictures, games or materials that do not reinforce stereotypes. The message WAC 110-300-0160 Gives is that through having diverse activities, curriculum, and materials the children can feel happy and welcome.

    POV:

Things that influence my point of view are my family, the media, and my peers. Sometimes when people have different points of view it can make them argue or fight, but sometimes there are people that will respect the other persons point of view. Our views can change due to new information from what we see in the media or read.

    1. I learned that there are many requirements to work in childcare.

    2. I was surprised to learn that an early learning provider must have written physical restraint protocols. WAC 110-300-0335

    3. I can see the WAC 110-300-0505 influence my day-to-day due to seeing the postings everyday as a type of reminder. I think that its really helpful even though i would know about the emergency exits and routes, seeing the postings would help ingrain it in my brain.
