Plan around the meal times. Those times do not change, in a center it is important to schedule outdoor times and restroom time with the rest of the classrooms. A good schedule is class management. When deciding activities think about what else is happening during the day. Perhaps avoid intense learning activities right before nap time and do them when the children are well rested.

I think that it’s really important to have good sight lines. It is also important that the kids feel comfortable and that they have access to all the toys.

If I had to talk to a parent about their child’s development I would make sure to have everything scripted and planned out and especially explain that delays are the end of the world.

It also helps if these observations are in portfolios as the child moves into a new classroom as they age and grow so that the new teacher can know where the child is developmentally.

I use screens at home to make dinner and do dishes with little interruption. However in the childcare setting I should be focused on the children and the activities I have prepared for them. I have used screens with older children to find and read books on YouTube however.

In our classroom we have children that are in the name it phase with everything especially each others names. We play a name game that includes different levels of development where they either point or say the name themselves.

It would be good to point out that when all the other children have left and her child might be afraid of being forgotten. It would be good to ask if there was someone else in the family who could pick up or is she could call if she was going to be late and discussing what is the cause of her being late.

WAC 110-300-0330
- An early learning provider must work to maintain positive relationships with children by using consistent guidance techniques to help children learn. Guidance techniques must adapt an early learning program’s environment, routines, and activities to a child’s strengths, developmental level, abilities, culture, community, and relate to the child’s behavior.
The WAC gives a big message about diversity and collaboration because it speaks about how the environment and the routines of the classroom have to include diversity and the cultures of the people.

For example the training requirements mean that I have trainings on how to deal with blood and bodily fluids. It means that I don’t question how I am going to deal with it when it happens. I already know.
